Hey Allen, a longer recent post thread would be nice since that is what I seem to key in on now.

Also, I liked that format showing all the aoty and doty recent catches, etc. I assume there was a performance reason you took it down?

What do you mean by "recent post thread"?  It's unclear to me ...

Yes, the AOTY/DOTY recent catches were server intensive and causing some issues (crashing of the AOTY site).  It's something on the list to revisit, but not near the top of the list right now.

-Allen
I believe Rob is referring to the Recent Topics listing. Once you've viewed all the listed posts, you would have to search the forum for any other recent posts.

That's correct Howard

Ummm ... if you've viewed them, they should go off that list.  That's the whole point.  How does making it longer solve that?

There is one already, I use it all the time!  "All Unread Topics" button towards the bottom right after you have hit the Show Unread link.

I have absolutely no idea what the difference is.   :smt009  Can anyone explain?

I use the "Show unread" but I think Diroblo is talking about the Recent topics area on the sidebar, I think he wants that to show more recent topics than the 15 that show now..

Same here, Ben. On Tapatalk, there is an option to list all unread messages. On the desktop, it would be nice to list more recent posts under Recent Topics without the need to click General, for example, to look for any unlisted recent posts. If there is a limitation on how many can be listed under Recent Topics, then I will just be content to continue my manual searches.

Can you not see all unread topics on the web version?  only on the tapatalk version? My default URL for the site is the Recent unread topics page, which I can access through the sidebar

I used to scroll through the list in the side bar but found I was missing things. Now I click show replies in the user area then show unread to see new topics.

I can increase the number of posts in the Recent Topics, but it may be a balancing act.  That section gets loaded on every pageview to the site.  There are a number of database queries involved in assembling the list.  Increasing it will add server load.

I use the sidebars for a quick peek, but rely on the "Show unread" for a more complete view.

Allen, I would not want to ask for anything that adds to server load.

I went ahead and doubled it to 30.  Will monitor and see what difference (if any at all) it makes.

Can we reduce the number of topics shown in the Recent Topics on the sidebar?  I feel there are too many posts in there and would like it reduced to like 15.

Just kidding  :smt003

The avatar  - the ability to click on it and make it bigger.  Trying to tell what people, or their prize catch, etc, look like is difficult. If we could expand it to the size of a thread posting that would be good

Exactly, because it looks like polepole's avatar says, "YOU SHOULD KNOW, THE BRONCOS ROCK."

Yup.  Just like your username!!!   :smt004

LMAO!!!

BTW, you do know you have the ability to change that back at any time.  Poor Antonio didn't know that and had to carry "GO SEAHAWKS!!!" until after the game, when he finally asked me to change it back.  To which I said, "you can do it!".

-Allen

With all the user name changes lately, how about a way to show all the aliases?

Sorry, that's not going to happen.  There is no easy way for me to track it.

imagine the amount of resources Allen would need just to keep track of yakuza.  probably would need a separate server just for that.
