Eight salmon over the weekend?  That's great, Marmite!

I think we're camping in the sheltered area in the South East corner of the grounds, but correct me if I'm wrong.  -Matt

This is an aerial shot of the campground.

Last year, we setup in the sites that are on the top-right of this pic. This was due to a suggestion by the nice gal who worked there; she said these sites are the most-protected from the wind (although it is adjacent to the road, which can be annoying). It is such a small campground and we'll be the only ones there....it'd be impossible to miss.
Although, there is always the chance that some people will be out fishing when others arrive on Friday. I will have my VHF radios w/me (have an extra in case somebody doesn't have one yet) so you could always reach us on Ch 69.

AND 8 more salmon caught over the wknd!!!?? SWEEET!

Awesome!

Shall we get a list going for food, or every man for himself?

Or we could be optimistic and just bring tinfoil and lemons.

Yes, I agree that most camping trips end up with too much food. But thats always better than 'not enough food.'
In any case, I suggest everybody bring enough for theirself. Wait, is 'theirself' a word? Because it would suck to rely on the local stores up there [way overpriced].
But at the same time, it would be terrific if people could bring food to share too. (Yes, I know that is a conflicting msg. But I don't want to make people feel obligated to bring food for others if they don't want to/can't afford it.)

I will be bringing a lot of marinated carne asada steak and torta rolls to share; it could be dinner or lunch or breakfast. This is the bomb carne from my friend's market in Salinas, called Arteagas. But I'll also bring some other random things for myself like sausages+buns, sliced turkey+bread, and beer. And maybe a bag of salad LOL.

There are fire rings w/grates but we cooked on a coleman last year. I think we used the fire rings to boil water/crab. I'll bring my camping gear w/coleman again this year. But with as many people as we have this year, any additional cooking equiptment w/b appreciated.
And don't forget a lantern or flashlights because there aren't really street lights up there.
PK

Scott, we might have too many people to BBQ at the Oceanfront but that hottub sounds nice! My guess is that you guys will end up spending most of your time at the campground, then return to the Inn to sleep.

EDIT: I just checked the tides and there is an extreme low tide in the middle of the day that wknd (negative tides at 12:20, 1:30, and 2:15pm on Fri, Sat, Sun). So we will definitely have the opportunity to harvest some mussels, scallops, etc if we want to. Too bad ab season isn't open yet!

Well I'll bring some sorta easy-to-prep meat (kabobs?), and a side dish, (potato or macaroni salad), enough to share.

8 more fish over the weekend - cool!  The conditions weren't super, so that's encouraging that someone got out and got 'em.  I'll try to get some detail on where, how deep, how big, and what they used...

Food I'm bringing:  cereal, fruit, Clif Bars, water, chips, salsa, guac fixin's, marinade for salmon!   :smt004

I might stay at the Oceanfront Inn too.

I have a Moss Parawing that we can use as a kitchen awning in case their is any weather. Beer and party supplies will be easy to get up here :smt003

Man o Man I think we'll have to stay for a week with all this talk of fish and food. I'm still planning an early arrival Friday. I'll look for everybody on ch. 69 and the campground. I'll see what I can dig up for a contribution for the feast. I think some nice pale ale would do.  :smt004

  It's the ticket.   :smt007

The locals use 68, so that's what we'll want to monitor for the bite and location of fish.  I think it's a good idea though for us to hookup on 69 while on land so we're not so conspicuous hitting town...   :smt009  If you're trying to bring someone up on the ocean then use 68 - on land use 69.  But realistically, it's such a small place, we'll find each other instantly!   :smt006

Being from Monterey and all......I will bring a dozen or more Artichokes and a big pot for boiling them for a Saturday night feast.  The pot is big enough for crabs too and I have frozen rockfish carcasses for crab bait to share for 8 or more pots (I have two pots).  And I will also bring general snacks and lunch food for the day, beer and other drinks and oatmeal and good strong coffee for fast early breakfast.  Not relly planning to camp but will bring some equipment to use and share as I expect we will be mostly hanging out at the CG.

Bring chairs for the CG and probably also firewood.  I have a load depending how much room we have Pat.  Are you going to be able to get up early enough to get me on the water as early as Abking?   :smt003  You know how I like the early launch option.  Got to get back fo that low tide shore rockfish action.
