You can see how close the campground is to the launch ramp in this shot: http://www.californiacoastline.org/cgi-bin/image.cgi?image=200502661&mode=sequential&flags=0&year=2005

Is there some nice sandy beaches there at the cove to grub some perch or do we have to do a little travling.
Very short walking distance to the launch+beach. Like a quarter mile. I've always wanted to perch this beach. Heard stories about big redtails along there. And it is a very long, sandy stretch of fishable water: http://www.californiacoastline.org/cgi-bin/image.cgi?image=200502664&mode=sequential&flags=0&year=2005

The north side look really nice for Redtail! I think we need to do a little exploring when we get there. We are planing on leaving San Jose 03/13 at 7Am or Earlier! I like to leave like at 3am get there early morning and set up camp and start the exploration :walk: :walk: :walk:
Still planning to drive up Thurs night. And fish Friday.

Can't sleep...

Coastside has "wide open" bite for 10 pounders at the Cove.

The latest forecast is looking a bit rough starting Thursday evening, but it could change...  PRAY!

Shoulda, woulda, coulda...  If I didn't have this crud I was probably there yesterday.   :smt013

I think showers won't be a deal breaker unless the wind and swell are really bad. Of course kind of a bummer for camping.  :smt012 Unless it is a frickin hurricane, I will be there. There is also shore fishing and steelhead.  :smt006

I like your attitude, Scott.   :smt001

I'm feeling better right now about the long term forecast.  There's not a well developed storm indicated, so pressure gradients don't appear to have big winds in store.  It is too early to tell, but this latest view of Friday 5AM is not all bad because what usually follows a setup like this is dissipation and hopefully some calm water...  As for getting up here for Friday morning we won't know for a couple of days, but this view shows not much of a window at that point.

My daily+ forecast pictures may seem like an emotional roller-coaster, but this is how I do it.   :smt001

I can live with "few showers" - especially when they come with low winds...   :smt004

Im still in, will bring tarps/rope to stage some dryness if needed, the ez-up is nice but too damn heavy. Will bring dive gear and steel to hunt rockies and lings...perch gear, shore gear, crab gear, guitar gear, fire gear, beer gear... my smoker is starving for fishies.

Good gear list, Ben.  Don't forget photo gear!   :smt002

I got a little straighter scoop on that "WFO" bite.  Sounds like a few fish were caught, but it's not WFO after all...  Kind of a relief since I'm sitting here sniffling/headachy/feverish.  This crud is some powerful shit.  I'm living the life of the purist monk in order to get better for later this week...   :smt006

Weather is all relative to attitude. Wet is cool, wind and swell...wait and decide later. This will be so much fun.

A little rain just makes camping more of an adventure.  Big wind would be the only deal breaker for me.
