It’s not the gov it’s the voters. Props 47 & 57 basically mandate catch and release for property crimes that run short of arson.

While the disincentives are lowered I don’t think that’s the main problem. People are more desperate and higher/tweekier due to the pandemic and responses to it. There was another brazen tool theft today from a local electrical contractor. Van stolen and tools stripped out of it then abandoned.

That very van is in the video I pulled and was doing work on my building at the time of the theft I caught. probably just a weird coincidence, but maybe not?

prop 47 and 57 Definitely contribute to the problem but nether of them have anything to do with bail schedules.

No, it has to do with the county having to house inmates who would previously have done time in the state prison, leading to fewer beds, leading to catch and release. Maybe some other counties built bigger jails to house 47/57 inmates but ours didn’t.

Thanks for the info. I think it's going to cause some real trouble or at least rampant disregard. I'm a pretty laid back rule following liberal, but if you want me to do this another 30 days (min) you're gonna have some splaining to do to get people to do it.  I think to a large extent the bad side of this really only presents itself in the news. Unless you're directly affected by the virus, then you're not seeing it.  So the overwhelming majority aren't seeing it.  But they are seeing and feeling the lack of freedom and especially going thru financial disaster over the rules (not to mention watching the rich get richer and the poorer get poorer again). We are between the proverbial rock and a hard spot.

I'm putting this here, because after I read about it in another publication, I said to myself, what was the point they were trying to make.  Then I see this, I've just scanned it but see that it has the basic info and explores the question.  I have beans and rice, not worried, although I did sell some 401k stocks on Jan 29 as a guess at what was coming, "if only I'd known" comes to mind on that one.  Hope my non-worry isn't misplaced.

And I don't give a rat's ass what anyone thinks of me for doing this either.  If toilet paper can make a crowd, food is gonna make a ugly crowd and I want no part in that.

I've got hundreds of pounds put up.  One thing I learned from the power outages is that I'm not just feeding my family if the shtf, I'm feeding like 15 people.  So I've been busy this winter.

I’m fairly close to plenty of deer and elk.

The part of all this stages and reopening is that it just feels like our government treats us if we are toddlers and need constant hand holding and direction on what we can and can’t do. If they treat us as adults and respect our intelligence then this would be more acceptable. I get that at the onset and early stages of this shutting down was the right thing to do. We should not be at that same place now.

Thanks Vic for the bodega info. Doesn’t help the talkers(edit I meant yakkers) much, but it’s sure a start.

I’ve watched PB’s struggle to come in the channel on a outgoing tide. Combine that with the boat traffic and it is no place for a kayak. I hope nobody tries.

Because a LOT of adults behave like spoiled ROTTEN toddlers...

Just like at home and in grade school, those entrusted with our safety must govern to the least common denominator. Sure, your'e not an idiot but the guy that's taking selfies of himself in front of the police station showing off his piece and using #felonlifestylz might need more guidance than yourself (and theres no realistic way to vet the intelligence and responsibility of every citizen, *china is the exception).
If you think that mr #felonlifestylz is such a small fraction of the population he can be ignored.... well, rose glasses are so nice.
