Can't really know how widespread it is, cause we don't test for shit. 1200 tests nationwide. Other nations are in the 200+k range.

Part of why the WHO declared it a pandemic is apparently the unpreparedness and lack of immediate meaningful action being taken by many developed countries. Many of the steps being taken now appear reactive, where they should have been proactive weeks ago. Hindsight is of course 20/20. Epidemiologists this morning seem to think we're about 10-14 days behind Italy in terms of disease spread and impact. It's going to get worse for sure. Be well, all.

I’m spending my day making my office social contact resistant. A large part of my firm’s practice deals with low socioeconomic populations through a state contract. Hygiene isn’t a priority for a number of them. I have already installed a video doorbell and am setting up a way for folks to meet without physical contact.  The rest of the practice is going even more online for the rest of the population wIth reliable internet access.

Overnight, an honors all-county band that my daughter plays in cancelled all performances.

I’m very open to suggestions and links on how to talk to kids and teens about this so they don’t turn to nihilism, vaping clove cartridges, and reading frederich nietzsche.

I'm not trying to downplay this but.....

This virus acts like the flu for the majority of the population.  Fever, bodyache, etc.  Rest and fluids and common sense to not spread it is the normal course.

I just don't get the hysteria over it.  Its not ebola or SARS/MERS.

I agree that awareness and hygene are important.

It’s 10-20 times more lethal than the common flu, it’s got a long incubation period (up to 2 weeks from what I’ve heard) and it transmits easily from one person to another during that asymptomatic incubation period. If it spreads to the same extent as a typical seasonal flu, there will be 10-20 times as many people in the ICU for treatment (while doctors and nurses are also coming down with the virus), and 10-20 times more people dying.

Please don’t take this lightly and act like it’s just another flu. It’s not. Period.

Ok on a serious note not effecting us much, we’re all healthy so if we get it we’ll treat it like the flu.
Fun fact 1200 reported deaths 328,239,523 population according to Siri 2019 do the math 0.000000366% death rate. What’s the regular flu death rate? Or gun deaths in major population cities like LA and Chicago?

My kids homie had a lady tell him at an Albertsons parking lot that he should get tested..... he smiled and said it’s ok “I just took a fat dab” then had to spend 10 minutes explaining exactly what that was.
