Working in Semiconductor industry, (In a wafer manufacturing FAB) that has 90% workforce of Asian community I'm a little concerned.  Fortunately no one on my shift seems to have any symptoms (No runny noses, sneezing, coughing etc…)  but I don't follow behind anyone closely, avoid (Wide berth) any one that might sneeze, wipe the table top, and chair I choose at my lunch with Lysol bleach wipes. Being inside the fab is a little more protected, the airflow inside is filtered, and monitored.(For temp and humidity) plus its lamitter air flow due to the filtering.
I also have gallons of Isopropyl alcohol available to wipe things if needed!
No real impacts for me, Traffic on my commute hasn't changed at all 85 is still a parking lot either way :smt012

Not sure why you are concerned about the race of your coworkers unless they just flew over from China.

Definitely a lot of paranoia and misinformation out there to distract from the facts and recommendations from the medical community. Let’s all stay healthy

Futures are trading right about there right now.

...

My daughter’s high school jazz band trip to Reno in late April was cancelled tonight because the event was cancelled.

The dominoes just keep falling. She’s really upset. The colleges we were going to tour on spring break have all cancelled classes and sent kids home telling them not to expect to come back until fall. That’s a lot to pile on a kid in one day, she’s inconsolable. I’m kind of afraid that a bunch of the other stuff I had lined up for her will also be cancelled in the coming weeks.

Reminds me of when I was a kid and I wanted to be an astronaut. I took the Challenger explosion pretty hard.

I think we're very likely looking at at least a couple of weeks of social isolation if we hope to keep the virus in check when it hits Humboldt - I'm sure it's here already.  It's super inconvenient, and that doesn't matter when it comes to keeping the death rate low in a community.  It's been shown that a spike in cases is more of a mortality driver than overall number.  We need to do what's smart here, and we'll see what happens in the urban areas first - it's only going to be so long before we're right in the midst of some kind of response.  I just hope the proper one is made.

Time to get used to being a home body and somewhat of a germaphobe.

I've had to fly into Seattle the past two weeks to sale at Home and Garden shows.  Headed back tomorrow for a layover then off to the other side of the Cascades, where another Home and Garden Show awaits.  10,000 people plus and it still hasn't been cancelled.  If I no show, I'm out of a job.  60 but fortunately in good health.

This is one time my wife would prefer that I was fishing instead of working...

My wife and I are both public school teachers and have been doing everything possible to be sure the kids are washing their dang hands and wiping down everything in sight.  I have a number of medically fragile students that are still attending school and extra caution is necessary there.

We are expecting our first baby in May, so hoping to avoid any exposure if possible.  Schools all still open despite some confirmed cases with family members of students.  If we do end up being closed, I will be spending a lot more time on this site and will be asking for any advice on how to invest more of my suddenly-free time for sure.

I'm a teacher as well. Schools here in Napa are still open but all school field trips have been cancelled through mid-April and teachers are stressing proper hygiene. This Friday was supposed to be a professional development day full of workshops but that has been cancelled as well. Teachers are instead supposed to get atleast two weeks of lesson planning done, but administration stopped just short of saying "due to the possibility of a school shut down." Custodial staff has stepped up cleaning procedures as well.

We've been ping-ponging all week in regards to our giant perch derby.  I'm determined to make it a go.  so far so good.  We will take some precautions like outside seating, shortened raffle, catered food, purell bottles, sani-wipes, and plenty of health Dept flyers posted "Go wash your hands, stupid!".  Just try to cut down the amount of time of event, and relieve crowding as much as possible.  And, hope the county doesn't outlaw gatherings over 50ppl before Saturday.

I'm looking at UV flashlights for disinfecting toys at work if kids drool and sneeze on them...10 seconds at six inches does the job...

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.  ~John Buchan
