So Koreans are inherently better at math than are Korean Americans? Since Korean born Koreans have a higher calculus proficiency than do Korean Americans?

I ain’t buyin it. People who work at math are better at math (generally). A basic understanding of Biostats isn’t all that hard anyhow.

Today a young woman went through my wife`s check out line at Safeway.

She was placing items as required on the belt and my wife began scanning as normal. Gloved and masked.

After finishing up the last transaction which was a Amazon $50 gift card as the young gal was bagging her own groceries in her own bags.

My wife slide the gift card towards her and stepped back. The young gal told my wife" No it`s for you and your family. I always go through where your working , you make sure people keep distance , remind them to be safe and wash their hands".

And yes she sanitized the card packaging before opening and once again after it was opened.

My faith in my fellow humans might just take an upward bump.

We`re going to donate it to someone out of work.

PIF candidate anyone  ?
Yay!  We've received so many good gifts that we do not deserve, grace we call it...we're not even on the frontlines as I would consider your wife.

Spiffy

Your wife and all the other folks doing that kind of thing are much appreciated Every time we go into a grocery store or any other retail business that has managed to stay open we make a point of expressing our appreciation, my 13 year old son included. Gotta be nerve-racking given the parade of people going by all day

My wife thinks there should be tip jars by the cashiers

You haven’t contradicted me. Yes people who study improve their ability. Again, that doesn’t mean all people with low ability are only a result of insufficient studying. It’s nots the understanding of the stats that is the problem. There is a great deal that we don’t know about this virus. Therefore we make assumptions to fill in the missing info in the model. Studying math doesn’t improve your ability to make good assumptions. I just can’t see any justification for saying people you disagree with are rubes that can’t be bothered to learn math.

3$J has it right.

All math, stats and epidemiology (yeah, they warned us) aside, I’m hopeful we are doing enough physical distance and staying home that we really help stop the spread.
