Headline: "Sonoma County emergency management director disregards coronavirus shelter-in-place order, takes family to beach"

I'm more appalled at the fact that this friggin' moron posted about his little outing on social media.
Wait you think there’s intelligent life in there?? In there being any government!

Do NOT try sheltering in the Cove !
Humboldt County has just updated their Shelter in place order
https://humboldtgov.org/DocumentCenter/View/84939/Shelter-in-Place-Order-signed-033020
It looks like you may get in trouble if you are not a resident and try to recreate in Humboldt County.
This is in everyone’s best interest.
I will try to post a fish-n-chill (maybe teamed with a king) after all this clears up.
Stay safe everyone and hug your loved ones

A MESSAGE FROM POLICE CHIEF RAINER NAVARRO  SRPD

Chief Navarro 3.30.20

Two more Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) employees have tested positive for coronavirus, COVID-19, bringing the total number of SRPD employees testing positive to eight. A total of 107 SRPD employees have been tested for COVID-19 to date. In this important message, Police Chief Rainer Navarro addresses what these test results mean and provides insight on next steps as we enter a critical phase in the fight against the spread of the virus: WATCH VIDEO

Now is a critical time if we are going to flatten the coronavirus curve and prevent the situation from getting much worse. Help your neighbors, loved ones, and your whole community by staying home.

When it comes to shopping, Get In & Get Out. This is not the time to redecorate or remodel your home. Stores are open for essential items only – such as food, medications, or supplies to make essential home repairs.

Compliance with the Shelter in Place Order is expected of all community members. The Santa Rosa Police Department will enforce the Order as necessary.

Ive been wondering if police officers could be a vector, and this gives some validity to that concern.  Like medical workers, these guys are on the front lines, but that line is much more invisible.  If you shelter in place, you wont come in contact with any officers.  If you're like me and have to go to work as an essential worker, and lets say I get pulled over for either a spot check, flat tire, speeding, etc, then perhaps a good idea is to kindly direct the officer to the passenger side of the vehicle.

Anyone can be a vector when up to 80% of people infected may have no symptoms - that's why it's so important to stay home.

If you're out on the road on your way to your "essential" fishing and you don't see many people - it's because you are breaking the rules.  The only people who should be out and about are those doing essential activities.

To shed some positive light, Californians are doing a good job sheltering in place.  It's inconvenient, but we only have to do it long enough for masks and better testing to come online.

CA has a population of nearly 40 million people and 149 (table about half-way down) Covid-19 deaths as of March 30.  New York has a population of almost 20 million people and 1,550 Covid-19 related deaths.  CA could be much worse off.

This time is economically traumatic, but if 1% of the US population doesn't die (3.3 million people), that's a win.  And the big fear in the healthcare space is that Covid patients shock the system so much that more than 1% dies because hospitals don't have the resources to treat other types of patients.

Hang in there.

Let’s have a good winter thread.

I have a trip planned in April that may or may not happen. I have theater tickets that may or may not be good. I have to wipe my ass and it’s hard to find toilet paper for some stupid reason.

I’ve already dropped $8k on this trip, not sure how much I can recoup at this point if I ultimately can’t go.

The sharks are playing to an empty arena, Giants preseason game against the A’s is cancelled.

Economic impacts are starting. This all strikes me as panicked insanity.

How are you all impacted?

Damn..... what a difference from the start of this thread to now.   and it started 3 weeks ago.

Obviously none of my plans are going to happen.

I still think it’s panicked insanity and the world has gone mad. By that I mean that in between all of the good steps that have been taken, and how by and large our leaders have responded appropriately to the panic, there are still people who vitriolicly blame the political faction that they disagree with. Grocery stores remain an incredible Petri dish of a cross section of humanity and I can’t understand how come they haven’t gone to curbside and delivery only. Especially when there are ever stricter travel restrictions in place - unless you are traveling by commercial air, in which case you can still go almost wherever you want whenever you want. Gun stores are closed by county order in a number of places, but weed shops and needle exchanges are deemed essential businesses. It’s mad.

I'm considered "essential" but when do you call it quits. Got my lil man who's 4 months old to worry about. I'm a plumber who mainly does service, that means multiple households per day. Regardless I'm only doing emergency calls right now but a guy's got to draw the line somewhere. Be safe my friends stay inside, things are not gonna get better soon

Worth posting again.
We all have to eat so we all have to shop.
Have a list before you go.
Go in and get the hell out.
I didn't see anyone else wearing a mask when I first "suited up" to go shopping.
The last time I went out I saw several people wearing masks; and this is in El Dorado County where, for now, the count is low.
An ounce of prevention, in this case, is worth a TON of cure.
Hoo Rag or similar over and N95 mask.
Toss the Hoo Rag into the washing machine when you get home.
Not only will it prolong the life of the N95, which are next to impossible to come by now, but if worn correctly keeps your damned hands off your face.
The pattern of the Hoo Rag, if chosen wisely, is uninviting keeping people at a distance. Win-win.
It's also good practice if you use one when hunting.  :smt002
