TLW and I have flu like symptoms with her being a little farther under the weather then I. Mucus coughs, slight fever and aches. Funny thing is we don’t socialize much due to us both hating most people  :smt044 not sure if we will get tested or need to be at this point. I’ll keep y’all updated on how we feel and if we get tested the results.

Just got a call from my wife starting Monday Los Altos High School is closing for 3 weeks. Both my boys attend there and will have to take online classes during the closure.

Thanks saltyT, so health department here said treat it like a cold or common flu if it gets into your lungs shortness of breath or your fever increases get medical attention and they will not test you unless you were in contact with someone who tested positive or have traveled recently.

Hopefully the testing guidelines change as test availability allows.  IMO, the test should be given to anyone that shows the symptoms (especially if you are part of the population that is more at risk, or you live with someone that is at risk).  The requirements above lack common sense.  The travel requirement should not be part of the equation as it is clear the virus is here in our Country.  Second, if you are in a public place (grocery store, etc) and someone there has it and you catch it from them, how do you know you were in contact?  It's not like they are wearing a hat or shirt that says they have the coronavirus.  They may not even know.

Mod edit - I deleted the attachment. No offense, but if “a Japanese doctor” is the source then there’s no point spreading disinformation.

Shannon, is that confirmed or is that just facebook sharing shit posting that people made up?  There is a metric fuckton of misinformation going around, so links to articles by governments, infectious disease experts, etc. are helpful.  This other meme stuff is just dipshittery and should be mocked, not spread like ... i dunno ... spread like....

Pretty sure that breath-holding test has been debunked already.

Add saunas and hot air hand dryers to the list, just in case folks were thinking those things were making anyone germ-free.

Not sure on the breath holding shit but the rest the f the info was spot on for what the health department said, treat it like an other flu but fluid on the lungs from fibrosis is the concern, and she said some may go through it thinking it’s a cold and have other problem or issues.

Likely the one someone I fish with texted me (I’ll forward the link to him) , I don’t do the Facebook thing. Thanks for clearing that up, I don’t too much stock in most of what’s on the Internet unless it’s a fish picture. What we’re doing right now is staying hydrated and I’m taking DayQuil to help and TLW is using Tylenol. Her temp was 99.7 mine was 98.5 this morning. Currently we just feel congested, sore and tired.

Looks like I might be on a forced Vacation starting tomorrow?

Restuarants and Bars are considered Gatherings.  and are legally prohibited for over 100. and events and gatherings of 35-100 people.

I'm not sure why they have two numbers.  if it's over 100, my bar is okay.. but if it's 35-100 it's not, and this is enacted tomorrow at midnight.  not a lot of time to figure this out.

Allow less people in at any one time and keep the doors open?

Here are the latest numbers from the CDC.

Total confirmed cases in the US: 1,629
Total deaths: 41
Jurisdictions reporting cases: 47 (46 states plus Washington, DC)

Of these 1,629 cases, only 138 are said to be ”travel-related” and 129 are said to be due to ”close contact".

The mortality rate here in the US (based on the number of confirmed cases and deaths) is sitting at 2.5%.

There you have it. Those are the facts according to the CDC.
