Well the CDC messed up my plans, I was supposed to have my ear canal chiseled out due to 32 years of surfing in cold water and my ear canal is 95% closed. My operation was scheduled for Monday and I( got a call from my doctor Friday afternoon saying the surgery was canceled du to new regulations from the CDC. The upside  to not having it yet is I still get to surf and pretend I cant hear my wife.

Been there.  Both ears. One of them twice!

Now I'm an old guy so the "What?" factor is alive and well!

Best to you

Newt Gingrich says he is living in Italy and writes this about conditions there. Is this what we will have over here soon?

As I write:

All schools are closed in all of Italy.
All churches are closed (including St. Peter's Basilica).
All weddings and funerals are postponed.
All restaurants are closed.
In fact, all stores except grocery stores and pharmacies are closed.
People are urged to work from home unless they work in special designated factories

I guess this could be implemented in America by military force...otherwise...I cannot see this happening based on this country's fight for freedom of individualism and community, thus allowing for wisdom and invention to thrive as well as rebellion and criminality and darwin type allowances...I would hope we would choose to care for our families and strangers by making thoughtful and helpful next moves day by day vs. being deemed incapable of making these decisions on our own as a society and allowing the government to make the decisions for us.  I would want to be aware of any sweeping laws made by hungry politicians that cannot be undone after their test runs fail, implemented by fear and pressure.  I'm sure we'll find out district by district, across the entire U.S, what works and what fails over the next 6 mos. to a year...

Keep in mind half the country votes in favor of big government control so I don’t see the likelihood of a need for military force. A good strong dose of fear should be enough.

My father has Alzheimers and lives in a care facility.  He was put on hospice a few weeks ago.  Yesterday I got a call from a staff nurse that all visitation has been terminated.  Only caregiving staff and medical personnel allowed inside.  I can drop off stuff, but have to meet with staff in the parking lot to hand off.  I saw my dad on Thursday.  That may be the last time I see him this side of heaven as I imagine this virus will last more the 'couple weeks' everyone speaks of.  They promise to update me with his condition as his health continues to decline, but Dad is not going to understand why no one comes to visit with him during the final days of his life.  I understand the risk to others in the facility, I see the news of what happened in Seattle, but unless I physically go there my self and bring him home here, I'm locked out from seeing him.
All I can say is these 'experts' better be telling us the truth about how deadly this strain is and not just using this as opportunity to test their ability to control all aspects of daily living without so much as a how-do-you-do.  My guilt I feel for not being able to bring Dad under my own roof so he's not left alone as he fades away is an awful feeling.  Not even his pastor is allowed to visit.  I am able to have one of his care givers read to him from his Bible once a day.  Praying for you Dad...

Dad a couple weeks ago.  I brought him the Sunday funny papers and his little dog, Lady, that now lives with us.

2nd photo; Dad Thursday.  Lady doesn't want to leave, but he fell asleep and I haven't the heart to wake him to say good bye.

Yes an iPad or iPhone would allow you to FaceTime him.
