I am a better person thanks to you, Joel. You have made an incredibly positive impact on my life. Even though I'm crying in pain right now, we must keep focus on the good times. And the effect your contributions have had on our community. Much love, brother Mooch!

Only a select few have the chance to actually see the imprint their life has on others.
You have touched all the life orbits of so many people here my friend, it is an achievement to be intensely proud of.

My heart is heavy with sadness at the news Joel, but will be lifted with the thoughts that the pain will be relieved and you will be at peace. You were the first person i met in NCKA at the ISE show years ago, your enthusiasm and welcoming grace was overwhelming. I will miss you very much but will take solace in knowing that you will be watching over all of us that take to the water in small plastic boats in search of fish and peace of mind. Good journey my friend, love you, Cameron

  Joel,
I'm so glad I got a chance to speak with you, briefly as it was, at O'Neil F&C back in February.  It's kind of a closure for me. Sad to hear the news, (At work trying hard to hold the tears back).......Failing...

Such sad news.  For us, Mooch was our Nor Cal Hook 1.  Lover of the sport, most positive person ever, always happy .... Mark and I had the honor of having Mooch part of the Hook 1 Crew.  He did SO much for us and for the sport.  I wish we lived closer and had the chance to fish together.  We will miss him dearly.
May peace be with Mooch and his family.

Sad and Heavy Heart, but Head full of some Great times.  Joel Thanks for the grand welcome to NCKA I received the first time I met you at PIF.  My Brother Dave (cancer survivor) whom you met at Albion last year still talks about the great time you two cancer warriors spent together and your kind words about his Wife Karen who was taken by cancer last year. Brother Mooch I have a confession.....I too have a SUP Board (even has a NCKA sticker) Love, Thoughts,Prayers My Friend.

I believe I first met Joel on the water at a BAM event. I liked him from the start and it was
evident that he was a great embassador for our sport. A quick wit and fabulous sense of
humor too. I'm honored to have known you. Love you brother! My NCKA!

If I could quote the entire thread, I would.  All of you have said it better than I could.  The man is a goddamned legend in his own time!

When my car got stolen, with both kayaks locked to it, a week before Elk, Joel was the first person to call me.  He had leads for me to follow up on, and offers of loaner yaks so I could still fish Elk.

You're top notch, dude.  I'm sorry I haven't been around at all for the past couple years, showing some kind of support.

You know whats best for YOU.  Love you, bro.
