Wow, those are some sexy sweatpants.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

Wow, those are some sexy sweatpants.

They are indeed!  However, I recall a photograph of Chad's uncle in a tent that might be more appropriate for our new logo.  :smt005

Will the original also be put up for us to vote on?

Of course!

When you say original, are you just talking about the linghead, paddle, and rod/reel?

I would, at the very least, like to clean up the font use and wording to be consistency across incarnations.

Which brings up a whole different discussion regarding Site Title.  I'll start a new thread on that.

I personally prefer the Ling Head logo, but don't care for the font. In a new logo, we might also look at the use of a fresh and salt water species combined with the paddle and rod. This might be more rrepresentative of Nor Cal, rather than Nor Coast.
Just some thoughts on ideas.

don't care for the font.

Which font?  The one on the masthead?  The one on the sticker?  Or both?

We've got some good wood artists on the site,  Maybe change the ling into an Alaskan style ling?

I agree.  His work is very gestalt. That style of logo/art translates well to a vector image.  I like the current artwork, but I think it is far too busy for an effective logo.

Yup, the current artwork IS great.  But its effectiveness as a logo is why I started down this whole path ...

This is a great idea, and before we get too stuck in the "re-vamp" camp, I urge the NCKA talent to think outside the box and get creative!
Revamp is a good idea, but something fresh would be stoking!

I concur.

For guys that want the big 14" window stickers for their trucks, that ling head design was a nightmare.  Several shops turned me down because the amount of detail in it and those that would take the design....well it woulda been a decision between buying yourself a sticker or a new avet sx, and there was no guarantee that teh detail would be intact.

We need ZEE!!

Not that I don't like the current logo, but here is something I sketched out on the couch last night.  Didn't put a lot of thought or effort into it, but if there is interest I can digitize it and smooth out the style.

Plus, all of our old t-shirts and stickers would become collectors items!  :smt044
