New Site Logo?

Not that I don't like the current logo, but here is something I sketched out on the couch last night.  Didn't put a lot of thought or effort into it, but if there is interest I can digitize it and smooth out the style.

Nice sketch.  It brings up yet another point too.

I like the current logo a lot, but having worked in laser cutting, engraving, carving, as well as other forms of "printing" I can see how the ling is an absolute nightmare.  Someone mentioned earlier that the inclusion of a freshwater species would be cool and I couldn't agree more.  Northern California is about so much more than just the ocean.  We have world class large mouth bass fisheries, world class trout fisheries, and many of the most demanding steelhead rivers in the US.  A logo that incorporates the "sea to summit" nature of Northern California would be awesome.

How about no fish since logos with 20 differrent species completly lack the cool factor?

I'm partial to NorCal for no good reason.  At least not any that I can articulate.

Although I think for a site title, where I'll chime in next, I think NC(w/logo in between)KA would look good.

I kind of like the idea of two fish (one fresh and one salt) swallowing each others tail (eternal return / continually reborn) with the rod and paddle in the back.
This might look good in the tribal artwork that was used in the AOTY placks.
I would try to draw this, but there are better artists than I.

Was thinking along the same lines... How about the Kayak as shaped words, norcalkayakanglers.com instead of over the top. Fisherman with fish is awesome though (a very generic fish would be best)

That last one sure does look like pussification!  Our current one is the only one I will get a tattoo of!  Except I will put my boys names on the paddle blades.
