We've been using the current one for 6 years now.  I've been thinking for some time now that it's time for a logo refresh.  I know we have some amazingly talented people here, so let's open this up to submissions and see what concepts we can't come up with.  After a few weeks, we'll put it up for a vote.

Actually we should be thinking in terms of logo "family" and overall community brand.  What works well for a masthead at the top of the site, doesn't necessarily work well for T-shirts, and doesn't necessarily work well for stickers.  Don't go overboard on colors, need to keep it somewhat limited for T-shirt production.

The creator of the winning logo will get a free copy of each piece of schwag produced using said logo.

I'm not artist, but I like current design. Also, taking to account that lingckod head has too much details I would simply drop it. NorCal plus paddle and rod :)

Something that is easy to make a stencil.  Then we can tag everything with the NCKA logo!!

Well, someone could always submit a variant of the existing logo.   :smt002  But I'd think without the ling head, what's left would be somewhat lacking.

You're right in the that lingcod head has been problematic.  The detail in it has cause printing issues.

LMAO!!!!!  Too ugly.  :smt002

I love the current logo with the Ling head...maybe we can just get an artist to clean it up/simplify it?

Where can we get a Hi-res logo to work with?  I think a simplification of the current logo is a good idea.

Which logo?  That's one of the problems I see.  The site masthead is one design with one font and says "NOR CAL".  The "logo" used on stickers and shirts in another font and says "NOR CAL KAYAK ANGLERS" and "NCKA.ORG".  Then there are the oval "NCKA" stickers in yet another font and now colors.  Anyways ... sure one option is to rework the head and make the fonts and wording consistent ... clean it up.  Have at it!

PM me.  And let me know if you're looking for a particular format to work with.

This is a great idea, and before we get too stuck in the "re-vamp" camp, I urge the NCKA talent to think outside the box and get creative!
Revamp is a good idea, but something fresh would be stoking!

What if, instead of the ling head in between Nor Cal, it was in between NCKA.  That is NC on the left and KA on the right?

Sorry, that's all I've got.  My artistry skills consist of stick figures.  :smt011

Looking forward to seeing what people come up with.   :smt001

I actually think adding a speargun to the logo is an awesome idea! Seems to me the number of guys getting into spearing on this site is growing every year....but I'm probably biased.  :smt005
