I can bring about 10lbs of fresh squid if we can keep it frozen onboard.

Any chance they could put on some lights and stop on the way out to jig up some live squid? And leave some lights on out on the deck at night while we're on the anchor?

Lets hope so!  I bought a few squid jigs for that occasion.  I hope they will work.

I would think if the captain thinks it is worth our time to work the squid, then we would.

Yes, I am bringing regular sabikis and a few squid sabikis aka candy catchers. Hoping to get some fresh squirts.

I agree. If there is a squid spawn, live squid is the bait of choice or fresh dead. Personally, I wouldn't bring frozen squid.  I would bring squid jigs and sabikis to catch pac macs and a bait tube or livewell. If you have crocodile spoons, bring them too.

I'm interested in the crocs as well!  A friend of mine once said that he schooled a charter captain using I think a mackeral colored croc.  Said something like he casts it out, lets it sink a little bit, then rip's it like a rip bait and hooks WSB out in Mexico.

I wonder if there were any spearo's on the trip?

There were 4 or 5 accomplished free divers. Whereas one shot a WSB in shallow the week prior, this crew said they didn't see or hear any. Doesn't mean they won't be home for your trip. Given the limited locations for our go, it shouldn't surprise that they mostly brought in sheepshead and calicos. I think a few passed up shots on other stuff. The lee isn't known for its halibut; that's a Pyramid deal.

Thanks PAL

Joe, when you blast a sheep just chill the filets for a bit and then chop him up sashimi style bro.  You won't be disappointed.
