OK I was so moved by the Pay It Forward Paddle, I think we should keep it rolling till Joel is cured. Ravensblack and I are going to head south for some yellowtail, halibut, WSB and glory.  :smt003 I will be setting up multiple transportation and lodging options depending on what people need/budget. We may pay for some local intel to level the playing field, but even without it "We are on a mission from God". There is no stopping us. PM me if you are in with your preferences and budget. If you have never fished La Jolla, you need to get down there before the MLPA does. It IS the crown jewel of California kayak fishing. Let's get it on!!!  :smt006

La Jolla is short on camp spots. The closest is at a luxe RV resort on Mission Bay: Campland on the Bay (www.campland.com). The State beach camps up north at San Elijo and South Carlsbad sell out early. Motel 6 might be your best bet.

I'm looking forward to seeing the northern contingent.

Scott, I'd love to see the details you come up with!  I'm going to say i'd like to attend, but have no clue what i'm in for and will need serious help to get prepped :smt002  Not sure if i'd be solo, or bringing Sara, but would love to carpool for the trip!

So I booked reservations for a campsite from 9/10-9/12 for 2 cars and 4 people at:

Campland on the Bay
2211 Pacific Beach Dr.
San Diego, CA 92109
800 422-9386
www.campland.com

The total was $147.86 or $36.97 per person. I also reserved the adjacent sites if more than 4 go. For those thinking about flying, air tickets will cost about $200 and I can probably arrange for loaner kayaks.

I have booked a guide for 9/11 so pretty good chance to get into some big fish. Since we are camping on Mission Bay, we can do some night fishing for bass as well as fishing La Jolla Sunday morning before heading home. It is going to be GREAT!!!

So far it is Scott, Dustin (+ family)and Craig for sure with JWR, Jedmo, Mickfish, Mooch, Rock Hopper, Wilderness Hunter, Porky, Dr Habinero possible.

It's really Fun!!!!

Warm Blue Water with a chance for YT, WSB and Hali's, Oh my...

only 9 1/2 hours away!!!!
i usually can make it to lj in about 6 1/2 - 7 hours, depending on if i stop for lunch and traffic  :smt013 through L.A.  usually when i go down i drive to bakersfield thursday night, motel it, then wake up early to get "Friday Light" traffic early morning on the way through L.A. Usually works out pretty well.  Sunday's drive back is pretty much always a PITA though.  A lot easier if you have a carpool partner to give your eyes a break once in a while.  watch out for the CHP in coalinga/avenal - they're almost always there.  Try to keep it under 90  :smt002

Not sure if i'll make it down though. Wife may have other plans.  good luck to those who attend!
