Scott you hired Josh?  Very nice.  I was going to hire him last weekend but my trip was too short to make it work.  If I ever follow up with my dream of moving down there then I'll definitely pay the man to show me the ropes.

I'd love to night fish mission bay. I was right in mission bay for a wedding last weekend at the catamaran resort and i bailed the reception for an hour because I HAD to walk the beach in sail bay...was really wishing I had my kayak too.  Saturday night would have been perfect - Sea World Fireworks, spotties and no wind.  Just not sure if the wife will allow me to. I have to save my WAF - if she does let me go i'll let you know.

I think gear is one of the main reasons I didn't try to fish LJ..all i have is piddly rockfish gear, yellows would probably rock me.  Although with more time I could probably get what I need.

If you hired Josh to guide you then you have a solid shot at being competitive, and some might say you have an advantage

OK, I'm in. Gonna stay at a nearby Hotel, though, 'cause my girl and little man are coming.

I might be able to bring down an extra yak.

Dustin -

Glad you can make it. Look forward to meeting your family. The residence inn come with a kitchen and fridge as well as free breakfast. The full size freezer might be nice for your 30# YT.  :smt003

I am stoked some of you are considering coming down for the tournament.
I would suggest that if you intend on learning the area and hiring a guide, do it the day before the tournament. I don't feel having a guide on the water during the tournament is fair to the other competitors. Now we certainly stop you from doing it, if Josh also enters the tournament and you happen to be paddling with him and he gives you advise that could be another story.

Since I'm rollin' solo I may be able to pick somebody up on the way....not sure yet, though. Depends on how much stuff I bring for camping. I usually pack light so if anyone really needs a ride to make it down let me know.

I'm headed down on Thursday the 9th.

If Josh is on the water that day, half of the competitors will be following him around so either way it isn't an unfair advantage.  He definitely produces like nobody else out there.

I love nothing more than the very rare occasion of besting him on the water.  Its even better when he's talking smack before you hook up right in front of him.  :smt005

You guys will dig fishing LJ.

If any of the NorCal crew wants to pre-fish on the 10th, hit me up.

Eric
