Some good news from The Tides Inn - here's Julie's email to me today: 

Our Winter Special (three night for the price of two) ends April 30th.  I'd like to extend that office to you and anyone else who will be staying with us.  Let me know as soon as you can if you can come in Thursday or would like to stay Sunday and leave Monday.  I am sending this email to all of you.  We are looking forward to your visit.  ~~Julie

Yes - be sure to tell them you're with NCKA/the kayak fishing group.  They've blocked a bunch of sites for us and they're giving us two sites in the middle of the block where we can party.   

I am so excited!  I went out and got a heater for the camper shell today.  I also got some powder paint for my homemade jig heads and lead fish.  I have been pouring through every bit of information I can find about rockcod and lingcod fishing.  All I have to say is thanks Abking, for putting this out to us all.  I really look forward to meeting you and the rest of NCKA.  You sparked the fire, I just hope mother nature takes care of the rest.  I really look forward to learning from the masters.  Matt

Which campground will you be staying at?

The only campground near the launch is the Shelter Cove Campground.  Many are staying there and some of us are staying at hotels including The Tides Inn where if we can fill the remaining 3 rooms we can party on their patio right above the beach - it's an awesome spot, so sign up with The Tides if you can!   

All I have to say is thanks Abking, for putting this out to us all.  I really look forward to meeting you and the rest of NCKA.  You sparked the fire, I just hope mother nature takes care of the rest.

My pleasure, MattS - it's all about the people.  I've been yakking by myself for a long time due to not always being able to find people to join me.  While I love the solo rush and therapeutic value of it, there is a wonderful satisfaction that comes with the "hookup".  I've never been part of a group hookup like this one and am looking very forward to all the good energy that we'll realize as participants.  This is going to be something special.   

My wife and I cannot afford to stay at a hotel, so we will reserve a camp site.  However, I am bringing two guests who have just booked a room at the tides.

Excellent!  I think that leaves 2 rooms for us to fill so we can fully enjoy the facilities at The Tides (as a group including campers).

 

Is anyone going to be bringing A spare yak? Not sure that I can fit all mine on the Man Van! I think its around A six hour drive for me and dont want to push it...Andy

Get your trailer hooked up man!!! 

I have a P15 up there that you can probably borrow. It isn't rigged for fishing but I plan to install flush-mounts and a Scotty holder on Thursday night or Friday afternoon.

A Pat that would be sweet, not quit sure if Brenda is gonna fish so dont want to haul the extra weight if I dont have to. We will talk...Thanks Andy

Ditto. Just scooped up the last mini-suite. Will be arriving Thursday night, so Friday can be an all day fishing/scouting day.

FYI - There's only one room left at the Tides Inn and it's a standard room.
