I'm in as well, first tournament!! looking forward to meeting the crew.

Anyone that doesn't mind letting me follow them around, give a shout out and I'll reach out/find you.

Hey Jon, if you don't want to do well, you're welcome to follow me.  Though everyone launches same time, and you can easily see where the crowds go, and congregate.  It's a fun time - see ya out there

Same here. I think I was in the running for smallest fish last year. Everything I caught was tiny and released. Going to try farther from the launch this year if I’m able to make it down.

See ya'll this weekend. looking forward to the Derby. 1st time fishing in this area so will be a challenge, but ready for it! Will be traveling and fishing with another buddy. Keep an eye out for us, we both rock the Vibe Shearwater 125! I fly the Calingfornia flag above my orange flag. Tight lines, be safe out there and hoping for an improvement in the weather.

I had a lot of luck last year with live squid. Bring a squid jig and sabiki with bait bucket/live well.

Halibut is the probably the best bet for a win, but past winners included WSB, giant lings, 2.5lb rockfish, thresher? and of course lots of halibut.

The WSB was in Santa Cruz during the Kayak Connection tourney, Al. I think? But maybe somebody will get one on Saturday, you never know.

Would anybody from Monterey care to interpret the swell and tide that’s predicted as far as it affects launch and landing?

The launch and land will be easy. We have a pretty protected location and we can help out if needed. The weather has backed off a bit but the wind will be the biggest issue on Saturday. Every time I check though it is getting better. Ill send out another email update on thursday with weather predictions but either way I would not worrie too much about it. Also it is a potluck so if anyone wants to bring food please do. We can also use an extra table or two if anyone has any?

Good to know Adam regarding conditions.  I've launched there a few times before - alaways easy, though this time seemed the swell was perfectly lined up with the beach.

regarding potluck, I'll likely bring my father along as well (if that's ok) we'll bring something to share, and maybe a table.

Thanks,
Brian.

Was hoping for better forecast as we are getting closer to the derby but it's getting worse!
