I have copied the information from an email from Mark.

9th annual Wilderness Systems kayak Fishing Contest
September 9, Sunday Grandparents Day 2007 7 AM - 12 AM
Benefit for the Monterey Bay Salmon And Trout Restoration Project
Rules:
1. Fishermen are required to start from Santa Cruz Harbor Launch Ramp, paddle out to the fishing grounds and back.
2. Must comply withthe State Deptartment of Fish and Game laws.
3. Must Sign a liability release
4. Must weigh in at Launch Ramp before 12 AM.

Person who catches the heaviest edible legal fish will win a Angler Kayak. Thank you Jared Monte Confluence Rep!

Registration $25 must preregister no later than 4PM Sept. 3rd by connecting to KayakConnection.com print out a entry form, liability release and get it to the shop. Remember after Sept. 3rd the entry fee goes up to $35. Since all the money goes directly to putting more King Salmon into Monterey Bay its a good thing!
Hot dog lunch and awards at 12 AM are included with registration.

Sorry for those of you who have been wanting a contest at Davenport Landing I had to change the location cuz its been a little too sharky lately. Fishing has been great with lots of species being caught. Will it be a sea bas, halibut, rock fish or ling cod this year?

Cheers and good fishing

To answer a few of the questions: Kayak connection almost always has the two tournaments on Father's day and Grandfather's day. I don't know why there wasn't more office notification on this one. Still no excuses....be there.

Mark and Kayak Connection was really the first big spring board for kayak fishing in the norcal area. This came at a time when they weren't even selling SOT kayaks yet.

To answer Bill's question...  :smt011    you know that NCKA is a family event....does that excuse work?

Edible fish should be the same as the MBK tourny.

Which kayak? I called the shop and talked to Golden. They aren't sure of the model, but judging on years past it is usually a tarpon. The kayakconnection website should be updated later today with more information once WS commits to which boat.

Anyone coming from the valley is welcome to carpool over with me in the morning. I'll have room for another boat on top of my truck.

....remember this Santa Cruz so the winning fish could range from 80lb thresher to 3lb red.

Bill can we sticky this post?

-Brian G

Stickied.

Yes NCKA is a family event but my other plans are going to a baby shower for my 2nd child (due in Jan.) so I think that trumps this event. At least if I want to still be married when the 2nd child comes  :smt003

Lookin' good.

Who all's going?

I think I'm in. Never fished SC before, so maybe I'll have some beginner's luck?

In Loving Memory of Mooch, Eelmaster, Shicken, and Cabeza De Martillo

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

I went down to the store yesterday afternoon and registered, and they made a point to tell me that not only was I the first, but that Mark was going to cancel it if there weren't at least 25 entrants.  So get signed up!
