I counted 165 members signing up in 2004 and 2005; the inception of NCKA.
Out of those 165 I only counted 15 of us that are still active.
Diehards or gluttons for punishment; either way over the years it's been a roller coaster ride with the highest of highs and the lowest of lows.
In 15 years it's till the best group of people I've come to know and have made some of the best and lifelong friends ever.

Interesting statistics. I’m surprised there’s only 15 of us that are still active. Kind of sad actually.

I’ll hit 15 years next month and I have to agree with you, best group of friends ever.

While I was kayak fishing back then, and had been for some time, I didn’t know about this group yet. I found it accidentally when a search for Cabezon pictures took me to a report from Elk.

Perusing the site and public reports, discovered I knew a couple people on the board from other areas of life, lurked a bit, learned a lot, and then joined.

The resulting years in participating on the site and at events has brought me great enjoyment and I have developed friendships with people that have become family to me.

Well, families disagree and squabble, but when it gets important, they pull together. I’ve seen that here repeatedly and it helps me get through other bumps and ruts in life. Carry on!

Thanks for posting this Mike!

The numbers are a little higher than that.  Of the first 150 members, something like 20 have logged in TODAY.  And a total of 47 have logged in within the past 30 days.

Yeah, I see what you mean, but it's the most objective metric I have.   :smt002

+1

I'm surprised that the number of logins is not higher, given that there seem to be a lot of new intros each week. It must be a pretty high percentage who are completely inactive (as in, never post and almost never log in).
Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

I'm still a member, but can't be active with y'all and I miss you.
Since moving to Texas I still kayak fish, keep in contact with the OG's on this site and love seeing all the good things y'all do.

Good stuff Tote. I don’t think anybody envisioned kayak fishing becoming as popular as it is today. There used to be 5 or 6 SOT kayak manufacturers and now there’s like 40! I’m glad I got to experience this growth. It’s nice to have some perspective. This is much more than a kayak fishing website for many of us—it’s like family. :-) And I hope you’re doing well Tote!

I joined 2 years later, while looking for a new activity to distract from an eye injury. While at Fishermans Warehouse, Pacifico introduced me to Mooch, who promptly offerred a kayak for me to use. Hooked ever since, although now kayak-less now.

I presume many either view the forum as guests or none at all.

Plenty of guests visiting.  For instance, right now there are 103 guests on the site and 30 members, with only 7 spiders.
