I have no doubt Dr. Mikovits is incredibly smart and she’s done amazing work over the years, but a few red flags in this video make me suspicious:

•   Plug made for hydroxychloroquine
•   Several clips of the Kern County doctors video (yeah, that one) incorporated into this video
•   Clip of guy wearing scrubs ranting about liberties being taken away (opinions are fine, but they don’t do much to expand the knowledge base)
•   Claim that a COVID-19 vaccine funded by Bill Gates will kill millions of people (and he’d want to kill millions of people for…reasons?)
•   Claim that wearing a mask reactivates a virus inside you to make you sick again…huh?
•   Claim that there’s no way this particular coronavirus could be transmitted naturally from an animal to a human seems strange, as there’s ample evidence out there of other coronaviruses being transmitted from animals to humans.

Not saying that it’s all BS, but those red flags make me take in the information in the video with more than a few grains of salt. I love a juicy conspiracy theory as much as the next person, but they’re slightly more believable when every single thing in existence isn’t made into one.

On a side note, it’s a polished video with good lighting and effects. Solid production values.

Snipped for space. Note that in my very first post, I included a link to the study from 2018, showing that in 2015, antibodies for SARS-CoV-2's nearest "relative" were found in Yunnan villagers. No Wuhan virology lab needed...

So much bunk to be debunked.

P.S. Not that I don't think that this virus accidentally escaped from the Wuhan lab. I think the odds are better than 1:1 that it did. Accidentally. But this is just a scientific wild-assed guess.

P.P.S - I'm as guilty as anyone when it comes to heated internet bickering. But how about keeping this one thread as close as we can to just listing original sources - research papers, models, case/death counts etc...

When this all blows over this thread will read like Journal of the Plague Year, NCKA style

All these expert videos and their theories remind me:

I dunno Scott, a peer-reviewed scientific paper doesn't sound as convincing as that YouTube video calling it BS...just kidding. Thanks for pointing to the paper.

I know one thing I’ll glean from all of this: look and talk the part, tell people what they want to hear, and you’ll have no trouble manipulating millions into believing anything. Remind me who said history repeats itself?

The NIAID (that Dr Fauci heads) has funded and collaborated with China and the Wuhan lab (there is proof of this on the NIAID website).  Fauci denies that the virus was released from the lab and Trump insists it was released from the lab.  Who do you believe?

Some of us gather information and facts first, then objectively review that information to draw a conclusion, regardless of whether or not it aligns with our preconceived bias.

Others form conclusions that agree with our bias first, then search for information and facts to reaffirm them while shunning anything that may challenge them.

Which one are you?

It’s already been determined thru genetic sequencing that it did not come from any of the Coronavirus in Shi’s lab.
Good informative article about her Coronavirus work.

I'll play along....I do my best to read and listen and comprehend the information that is all around us.  From that, I formulate my conclusions.  I do my best to stay objective and draw conclusions.  My background/race/religion/personal and professional life I am sure have some influence on how I think and react.

Are you able to answer the question that I posed?

Fauci denies that the virus was released from the lab and Trump insists it was released from the lab.  Who do you believe?

One of the interesting and relevant things I heard lately was from a virologist who said basically that humans aren’t smart enough yet to create a virus like this But certainly something to look forward to

Even if questions around conspiracies and the origins of the virus are interesting, maybe it deserves a thread of its own for the sake of de-polluting this one

First, thank you so much for the work you are doing.  Not just during this time but everyday.  Working in an ICU takes a special and talented person.

My question isn't so much conspiracy theory but more one of who can you believe right now.  Trump or Fauci?  Each has a tremendous amount to lose if they are not correct.

Dr Mykovits used to assist in the treatment of my wife, and I know her to be an outstanding/brilliant Doctor that is very stubborn and will rub a lot of people the wrong way.  My opinion/experience is that she is a firsthand source to the political side of medicine

Definitively? No, I can’t. But I’ll ask you this: should the suspect be presumed guilty until proven innocent, or innocent until proven guilty? If Trump says it came from a lab and Dr. Fauci says there's nothing to definitively say that, who should be more responsible in providing the evidence? Because if history is an indicator, one of those two has a well-documented habit of making claims and then not providing evidence to back them up.

Dunning-Kruger in full effect.

I know dick all about China, viruses, statecraft, or immunology, to the point where I’m left not knowing what exactly it is I need to know about in order to form the opinion in the first place.

I can sniff out the bullshit, and I can identify tribalism well enough, which leads me to trust certain people over others through a process of elimination.  I trust Dr. Fauci and I trust my local public health department head.  Everyone else seems to have an agenda.

At least you are able to answer a question without asking a question.  Thank you for having a backbone.

I would ask questions if I knew what questions to ask and to whom to direct them.
