Clear Lake is closed to all boating.

Damn, really?  That seems out of line. What about people who live there, literally on the lake with a boat and a dock and maybe even a boathouse?  Exactly what risk do they pose?

I get there’s a bunch of out of area people descending on small towns and rural areas, but closing the lake seems just a bit too extreme.

Source?

Was there sat and it was a zoo.

This is a little dated but at least we know where the tuna are...what a bummer and reality, good for the tuna population though...

I got this is my email this morning:

Quote

6:20 AM (2 hours ago)

To All,

Here at the County of Lake we are exercising immediate closure of County waterways and recreational boating activity. Immediate cessation of lodging in motels, hotels and campgrounds, RV parks and vacation rentals, except in the case of medical workers, emergency workers, etc… Anybody needing help in this type of phase let me know and maybe I can help.

Stay Safe,

It's a tough balance to strike here. In theory, these out of the way, less populated spots should be the perfect place to spend this time. Unfortunately, everybody and their cousin is having the same idea and many outdoor spots are seeing record attendance. And these are communities that may already lack the local facilities to deal with a large scale medical emergency. As we've seen, this is turning into a vacation for many and they're completely disregarding both the shelter in place and the social distancing advisory. For us, Clear Lake is a great spot to get out and be away from others. For most though, it's a point of congregation.

Sucks though ...

Sounds like they're also trying to flatten the curve, open less hours less possible exposure to sick customers.

Yeah not happy about her working , the volume of customers at times exceeds any gathering and or social distance .

Some refuse to work.

Just like TP, masks and gloves are a hot commodity right now. I'm sure those grocery workers would wear them if they could get their hands on them, but supplies of those items are being diverted to hospitals. Even veterinary hospitals are being asked to send their remaining supply to medical hospitals.

My assignments lately have all been covid central and I feel safer there than on my grocery runs, where you’re also safe as long as you’re smart. In the hospital environment you have all the protections you need as long as you use them right, and frankly I’m thankful to have a job that hasn’t been shut down

The people keeping the food supply open and a few small businesses going are the ones who deserve the most gratitude right now, both for keeping us in food and for keeping a little blood flowing in the economy As long as it’s all done smart it shouldn’t be a problem for anybody

The safest happiest places right now are all outdoors At the beach the 6 feet rule is more like the 50 feet rule and people are actually getting fresh air and exercise, nobody’s spreading or getting covid

Not sure what anyone should be afraid of in a boat in the middle of a lake

heads up ..the gov. announced "soft" and or "hard" closures of some state parks and parking lots, this will and may as it already has ,trickle down to county and city level . check the appropriate county or city park, beach etc ,website in your area

Is there a list or a set of criteria used to decide which is which?  Guessing that the people are n the rural areas are super tired of urbanites flocking to their little towns.

I have quite a few friends who work for Safeway in California and another big grocery store in Florida.  They told me that they tried to use their own gloves and masks at work, but they were told/warned by management not to do so.
