This was a safe place with no politics. It needs to go away before it turns bad, and it will. I don't know why I looked back at this again, but I won't again.

And here we go....................

This thread/topic is like an angler fish, once you get a look of that little flicker bait on his forehead you want to get closer for a look...sure enough after a few more posts, my fingers took control, so here I am...

It was enlightening to read the different perspectives on why one voted for Trump.  This election was not about politics as it was talked about very little.

For me, it was very simple.  I have kids.  I try to instill in them values and principles that will help them eventually be persons of substance and good character.  To reach that goal we tell them the consequence of choices in actions and words.  When given the opportunity, like when a "famous" person on TV says or does something, we discuss that persons actions and words.  Is that the right thing to do or say?  Does that hurt someone?  Does it help anyone?

Recently in the media we have been exposed to a lot of instances of bullying and how to stand up to bullying.  Kids go to workshops and have special school programs to discuss this topic.  Based on all they've heard from mom, dad, school, and anywhere else.

Given what Trump has said and allegedly done, how could I explain to my kids that Trump should be president?

Now to a lesser extent:
When you apply for a job, your employment history is verified.  References are checked.  Six bankruptcies?  Really?  Would you hire or go into a partnership with someone who has filed six bankruptcies in any industry?  Or in his case across multiple industries?  How about what his ex-employees, partners, contractors had to say about his business ethics?  Even if you found some that gave him praise, wouldn't the non flattering references give you serious pause?

Fortune estimated his net worth to be about $4B, but if he had just invested his inheritance in the S&P 500, his net worth would be closer to $13B.  I don't know if that strategy would hold true for everyone or just someone who came into a centi-million dollar inheritance.

Lastly, Russia, are they friend or foe?  I'd categorize them as foe.

When it was announced that Trump had won the election, the Russian parliament cheered, clapped, and other wise celebrated.  Why do you think they're celebrating?  Do you think it's really because he respects Putin and relations going forward are going to be more constructive?

Here's my analogy of their celebration.  I use to fence and in competition when my opponent is drawn and I learn he is a person that I've seen perform and know is no match for me.  I quietly let out a cheer and get high fives and smiles from my teammates.

Can you hold this same standard to Hillary also? Given what she has said and allegedly done; can you tell your kids she should be president? Would you hire Hillary to work at your company given that she misappropriated foundation money for her daughters education and wedding? Lied to the American people multiple times to cover up her crime or dereliction of duty (depending on what you believe she actually did)?

Absolutely!  I would be doing my kids an injustice if I led them to a conclusion or think what I believe they should think as opposed to show them where and how to look for information to allow themselves to draw their own conclusions.

It's up to them to decide f those things that she allegedly did were as heinous as what Trump did/said he would do.  My 12 year old daughter had a multiple "T" account sheets on specific subjects and Hillary and Trump details.

Fair enough.

I did the same thing. I looked at what they did, said and have been accused of. I took the evidence that backed what they were accused of and discounted most of it for both because most of it was BS. After doing that I came to the conclusion that neither was a candidate I could back. Now that one won I have to get over the fact that the person I thought was not who represented me is now the President just like I've done the last 4 Presidential elections.

Which is exactly why I wrote in Allen Sansano for President.

I'd suggest casual encounters section of craigslist.
There you'll find lots of people who are willing to touch it...

I'm still celebrating the Giants not winning in an "even year".  There was an election?

I'm less concerned about what Trump has said than what Hillary has done.

If you believe Trump's words, then what does that say about Trump?  He's at least honest?

Can you believe Hillary?  Most polls say no.

You might not like what Trump said, but, he's not being paid by the lobbyists, establishment parties or the special interests.  What Trump says is what Trump thinks and that can be changed.

But Hillary... she's bought and paid for.  She'll sell her opinion to the highest bidder.  Not only do you not know what she thinks, she is obliged to never be able to change what she says she thinks on policies.

That's the main reason Trump won.  At least with him, there's a chance he will do the will of the people over that of the lobbys, special interests and party affiliation.

Ok I was only gonna talk about turtles, but I think maybe its time to talk about why trump won.

He's better at reality TV.  Like, really good at it.  And thats all this election was.  Who was going to get the ring/stay on the island/etc. - he and his team played it like it was a reality TV show and won.  They flipped Pennsylvania.  They flipped Wisconsin.  They played the whole game like they knew that they had to do that and focused on it.  They have inside information from reality TV voting demographics, statistics, trends, etc. and they used it.

This was a game, they had inside information, and figured out how to use it.   The other republicans and the democrats are playing the old way.  That proved to be suboptimal.

Sure Trump played to his strong suit.  So did the whole DNC.  Now THERE'S a crew that knew how to win elections.  They won with Obama, a nobody that had zero info even on his education, passport, birth certificate when he ran.
They OWN the press.  When the fear mongering were describing potential Trump riots if he lost as 'protests' when the dems lost, THAT is slanted press.  When is a riot a protest?  When it's republican compared to a democrat.  That's how the press paints the picture.  The press tried everything they could to smear Trump.  He saw it with Sarah Palin.  So, he played their game; if he was described as a racist, he'd say he ran the KKK.  He was so outrageous that it was obvious to anyone, he was playing them.  How could the press and the Dems NOT see this??!!  They expected a discussion on immigration.  Trump was going to build a wall!   They expected discussion on religion, Trump was going to ban Muzlums.  (sic)
I couldn't believe that the press and the establishment politicians were even giving him air time, let alone that what he was saying held any credibility.  That is when I fell in love with him.  He mocked them.  Mocked them all and none of them had a clue on how to manage the incorrigible Donald.  I loved every minute of it.  The name calling; 'despicable' was the best.  That those who vote for Trump are too stupid to vote at all, but if you are on government tit, well then you BETTER vote or loose your nipple!!  Ha!
Well, who's stupid now?
