3 days before we are to leave to incredible Lost Coast for some MUCH needed water therapy and time with my second family, I have some other family issues that need to be addressed and won't make it up.  :crybaby2: Please send my gear with Frank and Bunny.
Oh shit, i need that taco tray bro. any way you can pass it off to someone still coming?
Sonny is stopping by here Friday morning on the way up. If Bill can't find anyone else going up, maybe we can figure out a rendezvous point to hand off the tray.

I already handed the taco rack off to Rey, Lapu Lapu. The only thing I could cover was my filet cleaning responsibly. .....

I am heading up later today so if anyone gets out please let me know if there is any chance of not having the fish for the taco shack.  A last resort I have speared a bunch of lings and freezer bagged them the last couple of weeks in case it was needed.  With a slow thaw I can't tell it's not freshly caught.

Just putting it out there as Ft Bragg has had 40mph winds and SC showed rain tomorrow but thought the wind was dying down.

It was very windy Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. My tent was being flattened to the ground in the wind. From what I heard, fishing was slow those days. Then Friday night the wind let up finally and it started raining. We got out around 6:30 Saturday to rough conditions and light rain but no wind. I released the first two small blacks I caught since I needed room for all those lings I had plans to catch. I ended up with a small ling and a small cab. My other teammates also caught some fish so no skunks for us. There was a pretty good drift that moved us from the green can over near the hotel and the rollers. We kept working to stay out of the danger zone. I got my first chance to put the yak in kayak. It was pretty rough and all the oysters Friday night were probably a bad idea. Around ten a light wind started to blow in the same direction as the drift. By that time I was wet cold and tired so I called it and suggested we head in. It was a bit of a paddle to get around the danger zone but an easy landing once we were in. From what I heard the fishing was a bit slow. At least one person I talked to got skunked. When I got back to camp I found the inside of my tent even wetter than when I left and my sleeping bag was soaked. I decided the best thing was to pack up and head for home, even though I was paid for two more nights. The weather was decent for the tri tip sandwich feed and the oyster bake. It looked like it was going to be ok for the potluck as I was leaving. The oysters were good and everyone loved the strawberry sauce again. I'm posting the recipe in case anyone wants it at home. Thanks Eric and all the volunteers that helped to put on another great GS.

1 16oz bottle of Ken's lite strawberry vinaigrette dressing.
1 cup London Pub Malt Vinegar.
2 Tbs finely minced shallots.
1 Tbs fresh ground pepper.
1 tsp dried dill.

The water was rough and the rain made everything a pain in the butt.  It was cold being soaked after 7 hours on the water. Adam and I caught a lot of fish in the area we usually do, but none of the big ones came out to play. We each lost one around 35" close to the boat unfortunately. We each caught close to 20-25 various rockfish. Verms and Coppers to 21+ inches and some very nice blacks too.. Maybe 12-15 ling each too. That was in about 3-4 hours too. We trolled the first 3-4 hours and only heard of one salmon caught, right in front of us so we were optimistic of a salmon. Too bad it is still slow for them.

Had a great time at GSX fishing with my team and meeting new people.  Got cold fishing in the rain on tournament day and had to leave before the pot luck because we got a call from our dog sitter that our dog was sick (he will be ok)
