Berry Brawl'N 3/21/15- Fun had by All!

I'll be camping out at Steel Canyon this weekend with a handful of friends (mostly non-yak, non-anglers). I'm sure I'll see you guys on the water Saturday morning.

I think I reserved 152 for Friday night only. Looking back at my receipt Iwasn't charged at the group rate but will figure it out at check in.

Monday afternoon at work and want/NEED to be on the water....time to get my head out of the clouds, excited for Berryessa this weekend!

Does anyone know if there are going to be shirts available to buy for this event? I'm digging the logo...

I just got a strange call from Pleasure Cove...informing me that their hours are 8am to 6pm. I thanked her for the call and indicated that I may be arriving close to 6pm (hopefully not later) to check-in to our cabin on Friday evening. So I asked if there is a phone # to call if we arrive late...or if there's a gate combo etc. She said there is a sign at the front gate that lists emergency phone #s like 911. But otherwise, if we arrive after 6 we are locked out. Not very helpful. Although I didn't mention the tourney/event during this brief phone call. 

Just got a call from Pleasure Cove informing me that the gate is open from 8 am til 6 pm.  Hopefully we can get the code for those that will arrive late or early.  Can't believe the gate closes at 6 though.  Hope I don't run into traffic after work.  Can't get off til 4 on Friday.

The boats for the bass tourney were getting in before 8:00. More likely 4:30-5:00. Must be a combo they give out.

It's the same deal where I'll be camping over at Steele Canyon, but they're telling me I need to be there by 5:00 ("maybe 6:00") on Friday or the gate will be closed.

Sure doesn't make much sense... And it was a deal breaker for a few friends who were going to come but couldn't make it by 5.

Maybe someone should bring a sheet of plywood to throw down over the tire spikes on the exit lane.

But you didn't hear that idea from me....

Just booked a cabin.  Yeah, they were clear about getting there before they locked the gate for the night... gotta be in before 6pm.

I'll be there with my awesome new popup and things will be off the hook for spots, reports have been getting better every day!

Fishing report:  Wish I could make it to the Brawl, but I have to host my future Daughter-in-law's baby shower this weekend.  But I did fish Berryessa's Oak Shores today to test out my new downrigger and trolling rod on my Hobie Pro Tankler for upcoming salmon season.  Tested my equipment then got into some awesome action on SMB, Crappie, and some spotted bass as well.  Hooked, landed and released about 13 SMB, but enjoyed this crappie when it hammered my jig.  Beautiful day!
