To all GS9 attendees and staff, I CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH!!!

I am still completely blown away by this event.  I have never seen a group of people with more genuine camaraderie and love for a sport as much as this group of maniacs!  This was my first tournament and only my 2nd time on the ocean in my kayak and I got nothing but support and friendship from everyone.  It was especially cool meeting up with some of my fellow Hobie team members.  Having the Pacific Outfitters Team (me, Midwestern, and Sarge) come in 2nd place in the team competition is the icing on the cake!  The only downside is that now I have to try and drop the 20 pounds I gained eating all the amazing food prepared by EVERYONE!  Again, thank you all for making my introduction into this group, event and sport one that I will never forget!

Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.

Those free tacos made the $100/a night to camp at the campground worth it!  :smt010

$25/person, me and three kids. Had no idea it was that rate or I would have gone in on a house with someone. But, if you are by yourself it is a helluva deal.

This was the best GS I have been to yet. It was a lot of fun seeing everyone,  and the overall feeling in the air was rexaling, and chill. The fishing wasnt the best, but being out there with my son was awesome. He got to learn a lot about fishing in heavy wind,  and he did good. Being he was the only junior out fishing tourney day and caught a fish, he got junior champ honors by default. We gotta get more kids involved! The potluck was out of this world as always, taco shack rocked!
Cody got into the calico perch pretty heavily after the potluck until the tide rolled in and waves were crashing over the breakwall at dark.
No traffic up, and smooth and safe travels home! Thanks everyone for another great event!

It's just Beautiful today, it's laid down on the outside with a little wind chop on the inside…

Nothing like Friday with 5 capsizes with no issues, very kool...

I personally skipped out on fishing the tourney, thought it might be better to have a pair of eyes on the water to keep close watch on that wind on the outside.

and of course, a deadline for school due by 10:00 Saturday, so it was all good…  and thanks for the many "Thanks"…

I had the equipment, awesome telescope, binochs, landline and most importantly, being able to see most of the fishing grounds. It was pretty fun and uneventful except for some spectacular whale watching…

 still chilling, few pics..

My first GS and I had a blast.  Met awesome people, ate great food.... and fished.  I even won a raffle prize!
Huge thanks Eric (and others) for putting on this great event.  I can only imagine all the effort that it takes to put together a GS and have it turn out perfect.
Looking forward to GS10

Just got home and caught up on the reports.

THANKS SO MUCH ERIC!

I had a great time.

4 days in a row fishing Shelter.

Day 1: May 13, arrived about 9 and launched to glass conditions.  Dropped two pots and trolled salmon for six hours for skunk.  Upon checking pots, we found all females and rock crabs.  Repositioned and sent them back for the night.

Day 2: May 14, headed out for Pac Buts.  Went way north then came back to help a friend before I started fishing.  Fished all day, skunk.  On the way in one pot was empty and one had 9 large males.  A few claws and legs missing but dinner!

Day 3: May 15, the lump was up early and the fan came on in the afternoon.  Fishing was decent but challenging.  We got lots of lings an kept some to eat along with a huge black.  One of my crab pots was gone.  We found the buoy and line on the beach with the screw shackle to the harness undone and crab legs on the sand. :smt011 :smt012 :smt013.

Day 4: May 16, Game Day!  I went for lings first but there were two periods in the early morning of sustained gusts.  One from say 6:30 to 7:30 and one about an hour to an hour and a half later.  After that it settled some and the bite picked up before the fan came on again though not as much as Friday.  After I got my two I trolled for salmon for nothing.  My last pot was gone too but Ken found it one the beach.  Not sure if it was blown or walked on the swell or encountered the same skum that hit my first one.  At least I got it back.

Again a great time was had.  I enjoyed meeting and talking to everyone.  Sorry if I forgot or forget your name next time I see you.  There were so many people and my I was not of the clearest mind in the afternoons especially after four days at Shelter.

Thanks to Pat for the floor space.  Shelter was given and I took it!
