I caught a 23", 21", and 16" lingcod. I released all of them. I caught my first two Kelp Greenlings, one male patterned and one female patterned. DFW at shore ID'd the species for me, Eric explained the color difference being due to gender. I caught a sculpin that was super thick, first one ever and it looked like a toad.

I also caught a 17" rockfish, don't know if it's blue or black but I don't intend to keep any rockfish anyway.

I learned how to troll in several different ways, how to rig bait in new ways (I was skeptical when I saw it first, but it easily caught fish!

It's been a great time here and I've learned so much and to think there's still three more days ahead!
That's great. Too bad I couldn't make it. Have fun you all!!!

I'm also gonna have to cancel my trip :smt010 I was planning on calling in sick on Friday and heading to the cove but a coworker is on vacation this week and I'm covering. Just thinking it's a really long trip to make solo on Friday, plus I'm trying to save money for all the graduations, weddings, bachelor parties, etc that I have to attend this summer. Don't worry team A-Hulls, you'll be better without me (I SUCK AT FISHING :smt005). Have a blast guys! Really looking forward to all the fishporn from this weekend :smt006

Eric, would you mind giving me tourney swag to either Bloodbath or Sincoast? Thanks in advance and really bummed to miss this
You da man Jim! I got things figured out with work. Looks like I'll be sick tomorrow after all! Uncancelling my cancellation, see everybody tomorrow!!! :smt003 :smt006

Quite a change in the water in just a day! It's a beautiful day but the swell is big and fast today. I had to get off the water at 9am after almost getting tipped off my kayak on a big breaking wave and got a huge cramp on my ribs trying to stabilize the kayak. I've never felt so happy to get off the water so I could stretch the cramp out properly lol.

Chilling for a bit then heading out, again, but boy do I miss wed and thurs conditions!

Managed to get a 23 and 24" lingcod, 3 blue rockfish, and another kelp greenling in just 2 hours on the water. Nothing impressive but enjoyable.
Thresher in avatar and Soupfin Shark in signature both caught and pic taken by me.

Supposed to flatten out tomorrow a bit, right?

I am patiently waiting for 2:00 to head down and pick up the kids...#killinme

I will add a big caveat: There was a lot of people out today and I cannot tell you whether they thought it was rough or not. My time out there only reflects my own!

I personally did not enjoy fishing in today's conditions. I felt like I had to spend more time being safe than fishing. Paddling out wasn't an issue for me, but drifting felt wobbly. That said, it didn't seem to stop anyone so it may have just been me having a hard time!!  :smt005

It would be nice if it flattens a bit tomorrow. The waves were just too fast for me to feel like I can enjoy fishing. But even though I did not enjoy the fishing today, it was still a lot of fun being out on the water paddling in wonky conditions.

That said, the conditions were a lot better around 10am than they were at 6am when I launched the first time!

It is what it is. I will have to make that call tomorrow at bingo. If it is rough, well the kids and I will go for a hike then help Eric. If it is fishable for my son, well, we will splash and dash for the honey hole!

Good luck to all of my NCKA brothers and sisters this weekend.  May the conditions be excellent, the food be as wonderful as always and your shared experiences be memorable.

I'll be home in my GS8 hoodie tomorrow thinking of you all.
