It was a kick ass day in the water today. One of the best weather conditions I've ever been in. Smooth glass with the occasional swell. Hardly any wind. Hope it keeps up until Monday!!!
Thresher in avatar and Soupfin Shark in signature both caught and pic taken by me.

I'm also gonna have to cancel my trip :smt010 I was planning on calling in sick on Friday and heading to the cove but a coworker is on vacation this week and I'm covering. Just thinking it's a really long trip to make solo on Friday, plus I'm trying to save money for all the graduations, weddings, bachelor parties, etc that I have to attend this summer. Don't worry team A-Hulls, you'll be better without me (I SUCK AT FISHING :smt005). Have a blast guys! Really looking forward to all the fishporn from this weekend :smt006

Eric, would you mind giving me tourney swag to either Bloodbath or Sincoast? Thanks in advance and really bummed to miss this one :smt009

Damn!

If you change your mind and wanna ride up with me at ass crack of dawn Friday and back on Sunday just lemme know!! No need to pay for gas or food or beer...just help drive home on Sunday.  :smt002

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim
You da man Jim! I got things figured out with work. Looks like I'll be sick tomorrow after all! Uncancelling my cancellation, see everybody tomorrow!!! :smt003 :smt006

I just read through the last four pages and my head's spinning!

Too bad you won't make it, Paul - oh, wait, you're coming after all!  Excellent.   :smt003

Darius - we'll miss you, Brother.

Won't be the same without you either, Morales.  I'm actually gonna miss you too!

The salmon bite continues to suck here - the commercials, charters and all powerboats are having a hard time even many miles from port in deep water.  My group of six got zero confirmed salmon bites today in 5 hours, but the water was dreamy good, like Ryan said.  I haven't heard of any confirmed salmon bites from any kayakers - unusually slow, but it can only go up from here!

A few pics for you guys.  See you soon.   :smt001

I caught a 23", 21", and 16" lingcod. I released all of them. I caught my first two Kelp Greenlings, one male patterned and one female patterned. DFW at shore ID'd the species for me, Eric explained the color difference being due to gender. I caught a sculpin that was super thick, first one ever and it looked like a toad.

I also caught a 17" rockfish, don't know if it's blue or black but I don't intend to keep any rockfish anyway.

I learned how to troll in several different ways, how to rig bait in new ways (I was skeptical when I saw it first, but it easily caught fish!

It's been a great time here and I've learned so much and to think there's still three more days ahead!

I talked to the charter boat captain around lunch time to confirm my Sunday reservation with him.  He was on the water, and  they had boated all of 1 salmon to that point.
