How many of our recent cooks will be in attendance? Post up please if you are NCKA kitchen certified.

Thanks

Last year I did a little grillin get together the night before the show. I have my motorhome with convection oven, stove, micro that can be utilized. Lets do a little pot luck thurs for us and Fri for whoever may be in attendance that night. What you all say? We can organize as we get closer.

I'm gonna be there and a seasoned kitchen helper.   Tutored at the feet of the master himself, Kayakjack.  I probably couldn't pull off the quality of food he produces, but keep it simple fare; hot dogs, burgers, chicken, beans, watermelon and bags of chips and we should do fine.

That was a great tri-tip you grilled up last year!  Amazing what that little BBQ can produce.

When we get a little closer in a week or two we will have a better idea of how many will be showing. At that point we can put together a menu depending on the numbers that will be there. Jerry, your on track with the lunch menu for sure. Breakfast, maybe back to burritos.

Bummer Jack!!!

Maybe not the best thing for that elbow anyway,  we'll get things going up your way soon, rest up…

I was thinking, ( oh no!!! ),  we need to be fishing in the morning,  I say we have something light and available for everyone in the morning,,, don't know what that would be, but ya have to take into consideration there is no running water, clean up is a hassle.

I'm thinking lunch and great dinners,  but don't let me get in to the way of anyone who is into taking on Chef Duties and has ideas….

For me, I have many other things to do and stay the hell away from the kitchen…

Hojo is donating a turkey I'm going to have my Mother-in-law cook and she is going to roast up 3 more.  I'll bring all that up in hunks to be cut up for lunch or whatever…

carry on

Sounds good Don. Light breakfast and hit the water. Thanks Howard for the donation. Less hassle this way. We will get the buns when we know what we need.

They arrive Fri sometime and are invited to stay to Sun. That could mean a lot of feeding. We also need to remind our guests that  :beer3 will not be allowed. We should maybe encourage them to bring something themselves? We could be looking at 3 breakfasts, 2 lunches, and 2 dinners. Seems like a lot now that we are talking about it. Maybe do a mutual pot luck with everyone Fri or Sat night. Just thinking out loud.

already ahead of ya as anyone I'm contacting, I'm trying to access what, if anything they might need and to come somewhat self sufficient.  That being said, I think we could put on some sort of mass spread without too much trouble, as we just might have folks who are coming with absolutely nothing.

Could maybe set up a cold deli???  Meaning a bunch of coolers with goodies and having like a kitchen set up/tables, that whomever could help themselves ?

sandwiches, grills, just thinking aloud,

I'm sure I could get some Golden China Restaurant food for Saturday afternoon.  I happen to know a gal who works there and may be willing to give me a discount :)

I am begining to think there is some sort of black cloud haning over me, when it comes to these events. Sarge and I will have drill that weekend.  I know that sounds like some lame ass excuse, but damn it never fails.  Unless something changes, I won't be there.

You guys might want to consider doing potluck. Encourage each volunteer to bring one dish. Spread it out a little.

Kevin and Sarge, you guys are high enough rank, just RUTA out that weekend. Or swing it and tell the commander to make that your assigned duty post for the weekend.

Gosh darn it I know in my old unit they'd let me do it, but I was a good boy and they trusted me, plus I pulled a lot of extra duty days for them so they owed me a bunch back. Being on flight crew status does help too even for a ground pounding C-130 mechanic
