Thanks Danglin, the sport needs more Mother Hens.  I'm glad it's a Sunday morning run.  The drive from OC is about 3 hours and the fist hour is to the 101 from Ocean Cove.

We'll bring a boiling pot and a hundred ears of corn for the potluck.  Michelle can shuck them on the way down :smt005 :smt005 :smt005 :smt005  Actually, she said we'll cart down any extras from the BBQ too.  Smoked ribs, brisket....it's going to be a good day here and in Heaven.

I will be there in spirit since Texas is to far away to paddle from.
I know Joel would have wanted it this way. He touched all our lives and I was so glad to have known him as a friend and a brother.

Bless you all and remember he is smiling at all of you.  :smt003 As he touched our lives we touched his too

3 miles out is for when the body has not been cremated.

150 yards from shore when "Scattering Ashes"; but 3 nautical miles for "full-body (not cremated) or when the whole urn is buried at sea.

Permits are taken care of are taken care of and the vessel for the family (and non-kayaking close family friends) has been taken care of.

There is work been done at Pillar Point Harbor and by the HMB Kayak Rental; it is still possible to launch from that area, but DO NOT PARK ANY VEHICLES down in the grass area by HMB Kayak Rental. You can unload your kayak, then park you vehicle up in the parking lot. There is other areas to launch from in the harbor, but parking space is very limited at those locations. You best bet is to park in the parking lot directly across from the HMB Kayak Rental and wheel you kayak down to the water.

If you are planning to stay over Saturday Night in the Harbor (RV/Trailer camp, car-camp, etc), park in the parking lot; there is not tents allowed in the parking lots, dry camping only. Do Not park or Camp in the grass area by HMB Kayak Rental; we do not have permission to use this area for this event.

Man I'm still speechless over this travesty. I really felt like I didn't know this man enough to comment over his behalf but the fact that he touched so many of the many on this forum, I just needed to chime in.

"Brother you haven't left the heart in me. Even though you are gone, your love for what you deared, will never be forgotten. You showed us how to run, when we didn't even know how to walk. You reached out to so many us, that wasn't even sure if we were welcome. You cannot be forgotten, for you are within many. You are within us. You will not be forgotton."

A bit worried myself.... Bring wheels... Hike it in :smt044

Is anyone going to fish a bit Before, during or after? If not I won't pack gear...

I am going to troll both ways. Alternate launch is the old pier. Bring beach wheels. Are we going to get a pig (lechon) for the potluck?

Old pier sounds great.

If someone starts a thread for a pig I am in for $50 but don't have a clue how/where to go about gutting one.

Got the day off. Will be there to celebrate the life of our good friend Joel.

I would like to volunteer for pig carving duties and also throw money into a pig pot as well.

Laura and I will be in the parking lot, probably from Friday to Sun; just look for Nemo flag. Not sure which kids will be joining us, but we will be paddling out Sunday morning with the everybody.

Oh man, I am so sorry that we will not be able to attend on this day. I'll be in Arizona and not home until the following weekend. If I could change my plans I would. I'll be thinking of all of you during this very special time...

Was able to cancel my Arizona trip. Will be at the memorial on the 13th!

Might be nice to have a support boat for any of Joel's family who want to attend but can't paddle.

Scott read Glenn's post looks like it is taken care of.
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

Actually, the Hulicat wont work out because of the time availability; so we are now looking for NCKAers with power-boats to take out some of the family out on the water.....

Hope no one gets offended, but Mooch loved NCKA potlucks, so I'm in for a pig also.
Would like to bring something he liked (deep fried cheesecake Inseine-Jim?)

Hobie Pam and dave will be at HMB, Fri. through Sun. We will be in our mobile lodge, the Aero Cruiser. I will forever love, honor and respect the man who taught me how to fish, the proper way. It's from a kayak. Forever in our hearts, lives the 'Mooch'.
