Blue sharks are relatively slender and quite distinctive looking. The description does not sound like a blue shark to me. I brought a big blue to the side of a small skiff once when I was a teenager (1983) in San Diego. Hooked it on a chrome spoon with bass gear. It just fought like a heavy weight. At deep color all we saw was a huge electric blue shape. It was an El nino year so we thought it was some kind of exotic and were a little disappointed when we realized it was a shark, but still very cool to see. Anyway, my guess is salmon shark.

Good story.  Mount the GoPro, that would have been great!

I'll vote young Great White.

I don't recall ever seeing a blue jump clear out of the water.  Blues are slender, almost flimsy looking compared to the thick GWS.

So, where were you? In front at 45' or to the SE?

Going tomorrow.

Sharknado!
Dude that's crazy stuff for sure! Sounds like you hooked a gws in the eye or something. Or salmon shark hooked in the anus.
Just think how good that halibut gonna taste when you finally get him! This experience just adds more flavor!

I can't let my wife read this one.  Thanks for the info, might want to make a list (or pile) so you forget less gear. Where exactly were you?  I don't know sc.

It was that big hammer you gave me Bones... it must have had Shark attractant on it.

If that's from the Albion weekend that shark was attracted to the resin. :smoke
I'll give you a few more next time we hook up.

Damn bear, thats some crazy shit.  Glad it turned out ok for you.

I would have definitely dropped a few logs in my wetsuit if that happened to me.
