What's up NCKA?

I'm planning ahead for some July 4th salmon scouting. My Hobie will be ready for some serious trolling, and the first fish SHOULD be starting to move in. Not sure exactly where I'll be going, but I'll have my eye in Coastside, etc, for reports.

Any interest?

A little bird told me that some quick limits were pulled less than 2 miles offshore from Tomales Point this morning.

They're coming!!!

What's up guys? Just giving this thread a friendly little bump back to the first page. :)

I've still got the 4th set aside for a salmon scouting mission. I'm open to anything within a 2.5 hour drive from the east bay.

Monterey is looking like a possibility, with reports of a wide open bite in 100 feet of water outside the Soldiers Club.

Bodega is also looking like a possibility with a hit or miss bite just off the Head.

I'm more amped than ever to make this happen.

So who's interested?

-Alex

Just a heads up - the soldier's club bite was red hot on Thurs/Fri and died on Sat. Not sure if the conditions played a part in it but they disappeared.

I was in a Monterey charter boat yesterday and it was really slow. Only 1 person landed a salmon out 30 people...

Thanks for the head up about the Monterey bite. I don't really need to commit to a destination until the evening of the 3rd, so I'll just be keeping an eye on where they're biting.

The SF/GG charters are killing it if you're still interested and they're fishing around the F. islands.

Hmm... Looks like Tomales may be a possibility. I don't know the logistics of launching from Lawson's and paddling out into open water, but they're catching them less than 2 miles off Tomales point.

Anyone paddled offshore from Tomales?

Alex, make sure you know the tides and weather if trying to launch out of Lawsons and head to the point. The current can be serious and also very dangerous. Totally manageable if WX holds to launch out of Lawsons on an outgoing tide and drift back in on an incoming. The landlord does love those water too, believe me they didn't name Shark's Pit for shits and giggles! I used to surf at Dillion a bunch and the landlord like to swim those waters!!

Limit your catch, don't catch your limit.

Thanks for the tips about Lawson's.

Yet another possibility at this point would be Bodega. Fish are being caught about 2 miles S/SW of the Head. This would of course also depend on Blodega weather.

I'm just going to keep my eyes and ears open and make the final call next Wednesday evening.

The shortest paddle to ocean salmon is at Pt Arena right now.

Sin Coast- That might be true, but it's a little out of my range. I've gotta work on the 3rd and 5th.

Do you follow Coastside? Seems like the fish are getting close off Bodega and Tomales.

Nope, haven't been on CS since they began charging for membership. Just have a lot of friends who fish. But yeah, Arena is pretty far up the coast for a day-trip.
