I gotcha. I ended up springing for a CS membership. I like the Coastside Radio. Sometimes I torture myself by listening to radio chatter on my way to work.  :smt005

If Point Arena is still going off next week, I may consider it. I could crash at my folks place in Sebastopol on the evening of the 3rd to get a head start and maybe show up a little late for work on Friday.  :smt003

I'll keep an eye out. Thanks again for the heads up.

I was in a Monterey charter boat yesterday and it was really slow. Only 1 person landed a salmon out 30 people...
Wow! that is slow. what boat did you go on and where did they take you.

Sorry for the late reply, It was randys charter. I'm not sure where they took us, I'm not too familiar with monterey.

The hot bite continues near the bell and whistle buoys in Bodega, but conditions aren't predicted to be fantastic on Thursday.

I'm torn... Head for Bodega and test out the conditions, or possibly bail to Monterey for mellower seas and a bite that isn't as hot...

Still no venue locked down, but I'm determined to give it a solid try on the 4th...

So who else is planning on some salmon fishing this thursday?

The wishy-washy "planning" continues...

I'm 90+% sure I'll be heading down to Monterey on Thursday. Haven't heard of a hot bite, but at least I'm more likely to find yakable conditions...

Hoping to make it up north at some point this summer, but it ain't exactly a day trip.

Can you recommend a good spot camp/crash if I'm able to get up there on Friday after work? I'm not picky. A more or less legal spot to throw down a tarp and a sleeping bag is all I'd need.

I'm launching out of Coral St. at first light.  Got to be off the water by 9 so I can go to the 4th of July Parade.  Yay:(

JJQ- I'll likely see you there.

Is this the buoy you were fishing near?

Weather forecast looks to be improving for Bodega. Here's the point forecast near the bell buoy:

Independence Day: WNW wind around 11 kt. Sunny. Mixed swell...WNW 4 ft and SW 1 ft. Wind waves around 1 ft.

That just might be the ticket. They are catching limits in that area.

I'd like to rig up before sun up, and launch around first usually light. Haven't checked sunrise time to figure out when that is.

I'll be crashing at my parents house in Sebastopol on Weds night, so I'll be loaded up and ready for a quick 20-25 min drive in the morning.

100% set on Bodega for this Thursday.

Latest point forecast from NOAA:

Independence Day: Variable winds less than 5 kt becoming WNW 7 to 12 kt in the afternoon. Mostly sunny. Mixed swell...WNW 5 ft and SW 1 ft. Wind waves 1 to 2 ft.

I'LL TAKE IT!!!
