OK, you paddle guys better watch it.
You do realize that a paddler/pedaler if tired could sleep on a PA 14 if he wanted, just have yourself a blanket onboard and ZZZZZZ!!! :smt003
BTW I'll race any 56 year old kayaker anytime anyplace(near me) for no dollars! :smt044

This is what I said exactly, "Not that I'm throwing down the gauntlet, but I'm sure I can outlast any paddled kayak as far as time on the water...well at least I could against myself."

Point 1) I wasn't challenging anyone....I said NOT that I'm throwing down the gauntlet...so no initial challenge was ever made (or threat it seems to some)

Point 2) You forgot the important last part so I put it up here for you..."well at least against myself"

Kind of an important part, and you still havent answered my question which would validate my point on the efficiency of this drive and that is that YOU would last longer on pedals then paddle...

I dont understand how my point got so twisted in meaning for you. Its a simple point and a plain fact...its not about which one is better, that is a personal choice, its a simple physics problem. I dont understand the hostility and have apologized not knowing exactly what is was I said that is wrong.

In fun, peace, and I'm done posting too-

-Murf

Murfman,
It's all good. I'm not in this for the argument. I'm just having some fun. My back hates Hobie's. the last time in one my legs got tired, so I went back to shore and got my Tarpon and kept going.

Here is my two cents worth; I peddle and am in good shape. I have peddled next to Kevin and Rob and they can out paddle me anyday of the week and they're not even trying. Robs Wilderness has such low drag and Kevin is just an animal on his Quest. I too can out paddle myself on my Outback in an all out sprint since I have less drag with turbo fins, but for endurance the fins are great mintaining about 4.5-4.8 knots for a long haul.

There may be a few who can paddle forever, but most people will left behind, when the paddle vs. pedal race happens. Ego aside I have to believe since the mirage drive never leaves the water during use, unlike a paddle which is removed from  the water on every stroke, ultimately there has to be some separation, even with the inefficient Hobie Hulls.
Traditional endurance test=marathon=26 miles=approx twice around alameda island
