I believe (and I may be wrong) that the early Quest and Outback were essentially the same boat but one had a peddle drive na dthe other traditional paddle.  Now that would be a good test.  as the two are like boats.  Outside of that, how a PA with and without peddle against each other?

Not to hijack the original posters thread :ahem: but a far more fun contest would be to hit up a local lake with all manner of pedal and paddle yaks, setup various courses such as a bouy slalom, fastest OTW recovery times, speed runs, tug of wars, standing up one one leg,  jury rig (think Rosanne Barrs underwear) sailing contest,  log rolling etc. The prize=beer :smt007. Food afterwards. I can bring two completely different pedal yaks. I do like the OP's suggestion for entry/wager and prize to be donated.

I would like to see a tug of war between the two, heck even a tug of war between two different hobbies.

Like RC airplanes and Crocheting?

"Not that I'm throwing down the gauntlet, but I'm sure I can outlast any paddled yak as far as time on the water."

I'm   not mad at all. Just amused. This is what you originally posted and this is what i originally responded to. The speeds I posted, maybe in the other thread, are with my kayak loaded as I fish in it. Your original statement said your PA was  better than any paddle yak basically. Most of you know I like to race and compete. But against a PA is not worth my time or money. I will be out there all day and when I'm done you ll already be on shore with two tired legs. 10-12 hours a day and 15+ miles is my normal routine. Ill just give the cash to Joel. I'd like to see Rob take the challenge after a few rips. Oh wait, I'm sure I have seen him after already. ;-) man, this is funny shit.

Yeah but you DID respond. Smells like a whiff of 'butt hurt' to me.   :spank

I guess I did respond. So with that said, I will race if thats what i need to do. I will have time after the 10th of June.

Camera is sort of working. Like someone said before. If you hold thebutton just a fraction of a second too long it locks up. Then the battery has to come out. Still a pain, and not right.  I may just sell it. Then get the Sony I think is the one. It has a screen you can view which is a shit load better than not knowing what you get on the GP.

not to knock the pa but even with the pedals it takes a toll.i had the 14 now i have the 12.one member calls it a "hippo"its horrible on land but very smooth on the water.i took mine out to  crab at hmb with fishingaddict he had to keep slowing down and wait for me.pedal/paddle i think its up to the owner and how competative and what kind of shpe he or she is in.but i do put alot of miles on mine and i only taken it out four times.but paddling the pa you can forget it.ill wait for one of the ocean kayak guys to come by and tow me. :smt005 tightlines everyone and take lots of pics
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Being impulsive here and going on the subject line only...

I'm game for a moderate distance race against any paddle craft.  My boat is fast (I think).  I had the T15 and liked it but it was a tank compared to the Kaskazi Dorado II that I have now.  This boat does 4 MPH relaxed and 6+MPH when I'm trying.  I'm Happy to wager a race with proceeds to Mooch.  Won't be at GS2 but plan on Albion, or sooner.  Dan

"Your original statement said your PA was  better than any paddle yak basically. "

Thats nothing what I said...read what I said...I had a laundry list of items the PA is compromised in?!? You're putting words in my mouth...I said the mirage drive was a more efficient means of propulsion and utilizes your legs...a far more powerful muscle group then your upper body. Thats what I said....then I asked you, and you never replied, that dont you think YOU would last longer by pedaling all day then by paddling? Thats what was in my original post. Trying running a marathon on your arms...Shit...it is getting silly...can you answer that question honestly? Would YOU last longer? Not what you think fishes better, looks better, or is easier to load onto your truck, but simply the basic theme of my premise...what would YOU last longer in? And in my wager I tried to make the boats equal and then got beat up for trying...NEVER EVER did I say my PA was superior...didn't you read what I posted?

Sheesh...

It is kinda funny, "some dude wanting to race his PA"...that is a bit absurd, but I still stand by my premise and think the info I passed to the newbie asking for help was valid.

This is what you said and this is what I responded to. That simple.

Not that I'm throwing down the gauntlet, but I'm sure I can outlast any paddled kayak as far as time on the water.

I said you should not bet on that. I can go as long or longer than anyone in the club on my Tarpon 160. Easy to understand. I said nothing about thePA or anything in my first post. At trolling speed if I had food I could last a week. No effort for my arms at all. I can go 4 mph for hours too. End of my responses. Actually one more thing. If in your race you will be trolling I hope 4 mph is a good trolling speed for you. :-) I say this all in fun.

Now I need to get over to a luau.
