Quarry Lakes February 22, 2013

I've been there the day of and day after plants, for me it seems they bite better a few days after the plant,

At least 2 days after a plant produces.  Somebody told me the trout are drugged during transportation so they don't freak and smash the walls but I can't confirm this.

Does anyone know when the next plant is???

  Looks like 1500lbs on the 14th....

  so, Looks like the 15th, Friday, Looks like another day would be better for the DRUGS to wear off, but this still looks better than the 8th...

Don - EB Parks plant dates are always on a Monday.  It means that a plant will take place that week but not that specific day.  Ex. I was there on Thursday 12/27/12 and plant took place. http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=43428.0

Howdy All   

 Just wanted to let ya know that we are moving forward with February 22nd, all the paperwork is in the EBRPD office and we are just waiting to hear what they will approve and waive as far as fees.

Big Thanks to "FishingAddict"  ( Mel ) for putting a bug into the ear of the Supervisor at the lake as the Supervisor got the ball rolling in a different direction and should help us out...

 Don't have time to do a count on our resources yet, but I think we will eventually look pretty good for taking out 20 +/- vets out on the water and also have more than enough fishing rods for both yak and shore fishing.

But we should be thinking about how we want to fish for the elusive Quarry lakes trout....

We also have some non-NCKA volunteers coming that can help with food to shore fishing .

As far as food, If Kayakjack is up for it, Breakfast Burritos would be great!!!

Lunch should be a more simple affair of Hamburgers and Dogs, chips, fruit and something for the non-meat crowd....

VA might be bringing some drinks, but we should also prepare for that too...

Anything that ya all might buy for this event I can reimburse you, I just need all recites to be clean...

Meaning,  just for the item purchased and no cash back on the recite ... I can also give you a recite for donation if that would be helpful.

It seems like this is a trout thing but remember to bring a med-heavy back up with your favorite darker trout swimbait attached.  1500lbs of "drugged" planters, fuming and frothing out of the truck is a helluva dinner bell to any 3lb. + bucketmouth within a mile!

I may have my third Tarpon by the time this roles around. Plus my big boy Ride.

Just waiting for EBRPD to give us the go ahead ...

Just want to keep ya all up to date,,,

Our permit has been approved and we do have the Ensenada North Pavilion and those fees were waived..
 $670 bucks right there...

I'm still waiting to hear about entry fees, launch fees, quagga muscle and daily fishing permit... I suspect we will have to pay the daily fishing fee and the quagga muscle inspection fee.

We have taken a torpedo to the side in that kayakjack is unable to make this event and the Breakfast Burritos are in jeopardy.... We should get something for the vets as they arrive, just do not know what yet...

I heard from one of the Therapist today and they are looking at bring around 40 Vets, here is the e-mail...

 

Just wanted to let you know that I spoke with Rebecca Tymn from the Polytrauma program, who indicated that they would also like to join. There is a new therapist there (Alec)  who is a fishing enthusiast who will likely be helpful in supporting HOW and other fishing programs. We’re shooting to have about 40 veterans total, and maybe split into morning and afternoon kayak (and shore fishing) sessions. Looking forward to seeing you on the 22nd. I’ll be getting drinks for everyone. I requested paper supplies as well (plates, cups, napkins, plasticware), if that would be helpful- let me know if that’s already covered.

I'm sure I missed someone or something, so just post up and let me know... were shooting for 20 extra kayaks and gear... fishing poles were good... but if you want to bring something to fish with your vet, all good... and terminal tackle would be great too. We will buy what we don't have, weights, hooks, power bait, worms, etc...  and as always...
