seconds before i got launched,,,,,i remember thinking to myself.....WOW! it is soooo quiet out here. Then i read about others feeling the exact same thing prior to getting hit.....BOO! (not funny)
IjustSCAREDmyself :smt009

I'm interested to know how many of these hits have come at or near fishfinder transducers.

Adam? Mel? Harry? Dan?

Just something I've always wondered....

I had mine going.....I know Dan had his going......and i'm pretty sure Sean(piscean) had his on when he got throughly checked and followed.

I think the pinging from it, probably sounds just like a heart beat when picked up by their elctro-sensors.

To make your odds even better, make sure the Hobie is yellow.

Yes. My point is that a majority of the kayaks we paddle/pedal are yellow.

... all joking aside, it's a serious situation but I believe most can agree that it is a case of mistaken identity and the hit is merely a "tast test".  Ones chance of being struck over another is most likely equal ... in a group or not.  The only benefit I can see to a group is safety in the form of assistance should ANY sort of situation arrise.  Glad everyone involved is ok.  We continue to research and learn from that research only to reach the same conclusion ... sharks are apex preditors and may strike at almost any object that looks like food.

I am just glad everyone of our pals is ok after the events. I gotta say Craig, I think you are right, it would be the pinnacle of experiences OTW.

My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

I wonder how a GWS looks on a fishfinder screen. The fish alarm would probably go ape shit. :smt044

I am not sure I buy into the color having much to do with it.  I agree with Mooch.  That is like saying white cars are more likely to get in crashes.  Statistically this is true, but it is also the most common color of car on the road.  Or is it the type of person who drives a white car.  Or did the other driver not see the white car as a threat...hmmmm, now I made myself wonder.  Kidding aside, I think it is a roll of the dice.  Look at all the colors of surf boards attacked by sharks, they run the gambit from white, to blue, to gray.  I will now sit in my yum yum yellow Hobie kayak with my fish finder on, and look for the big blip on the screen.... :smt010

Indeed - the photos are a great indicator of the high percentage of Yellow boats. I like seeing the Elk photo - I don't miss doing that hill, but loved the place anyway...

Manta Ray  -  sand color.  Usually have fishfinder on all the time, unless battery dies :smt013.  Have not felt the back of the neck hair raising feeling while fishing yet :smt003, hopefully never will.
