Etienne says it is those moments that makes you feel "alive". So much of life is mundane and boring. Not to say you should be an adreneline junkie and do stupid things or take unnecessary risks but to survive a full on GWS attack, yeah that would be something.

Myself and John were talking today about those moments when you sense something WAY bigger than yourself is near. Like the hair rising on the neck and that sickness in the bowel tract. Defining moments for sure.

You think kayak size will make a diiference? My hefty x factor might be ignored compared to a smaller yak....? Do great whites ever attack small.whalers?

Aaron use to call it the butt pucker moments. Being tomb stoned on a surf launch or landing or facing the landlord. He always said, stay in the moment and don't panic, make your decision then go 100% when you make your decision.

Lot's of discussion on previous threads.  All theories have been debunked so far... from color to patterns, etc.

My personal theory id that an Adventure Island looks like a mamma and 2 pups.  Lol.  Just jealous...

Peace!

Yep, as the old saying goes "life is much more exciting when you live in the middle of the food web"!

I have learned to trust my instincts.   The old primal response when around big predators - hair standing up on arms neck, anxiety, cold fear.  I've felt this when unarmed around wild grizzlies in Wyoming and Montana, and mountain lions in the Sierra.  I've only felt it twice OTW while yak fishing. Once, very weakly in passing when on the Mendo coast.  Once hot and heavy - just around the north end of Muir near the rocks - spooked me good, I looked around didn't see anything, but felt I had been visited.  Calmly left the area.

No doubt GWS are so finely attuned to their environment that they are constantly checking out interesting smells, sounds, and electrical signals, such as we make OTW.  Can't help but think they must be checking us out frequently. I'm a firm believer in trusting your instincts, pay attention and leave the area if it doesn't feel right.

I'm interested to know how many of these hits have come at or near fishfinder transducers.

Adam? Mel? Harry? Dan?

Just something I've always wondered....

I wonder how a GWS looks on a fishfinder screen. The fish alarm would probably go ape shit. :smt044
