Danglin,

Instead of trying the non-profit mode to camp sites waived, work with any of your past disabled vets, and see if they would like to volunteer.  I am pretty sure the state has a reduced or waived fee for disabled vets.

If there is still room for more to join, i'd like to try and make this event.  Would have to find a way to camp Friday night, cant do the 6+ hour drive there and back again  :smt009  I have 4 pots, 1 Ring, and a even a few snares if that helps.  Can bring 2 yaks, and all the gear for them except need a pair of booties, and someone would have to fit in either Sara's wetsuit (L) or my extra Farmer John (XXL).  Have multiple PFD's if needed.  Sara may like to join as well, but just to help out instead of yaking n crabbing n such.

Sounds Good Al and Great to see ya Mooch, or going to see ya....

The camping situation works like this...

we have 2 sites, 8 people max per site, 2 cars per site, extra cars are charged $6 I believe and need to park in the day use parking areas. The sites we have actually have good areas for tents.

I will keep a running tab on how many we have coming, but I do not think we will hit our limit of 16, if we do, we might need to recon in there early Friday or maybe Thursday to pick up another first come, first serve site, which would be great anyway as we need to clear our sites by 12 on Saturday, we could not get the next day on the sites we have.

Hey Kevin, nice to hear from ya    :smt006

Well,  don't even know where to start here...  All the trouble to get this event going was insurance and working with the " County Parks.. " and their tall order for insurance for any events. I did not even try to get fees waived as I was told it does not happen very much as need for funds etc.... Doran is not a state park... and there is a State park down the road, but we need to be right on the Beach @ Doran as secure the jetty area first thing in the morning for our event.

Also in trying to get fees waived is usually a 2 to 3 month in advance process, and can not be asked for till I got the permit, which took almost month and a half itself, and just got that last week.

The other problem were having is Doran is booked, but I think we have just enough of everything to pull this off and expect future events to go more smoothly.

I would also like to say that the Sonoma County Parks system has been working very hard themselves to help us meet the requirements and want us to be there. We just had to do this right.

Thanks and hope ya can make a event soon...

Do they close a gate at a set time I'm going up after work Friday night which will put me there around 130 or 2 in the morning if they lock a gate I'll just zonk along side the road for a bit.

What time do the vets get there?

There are no gates. People should maybe park into day use of the jetty so that we can grab the tables. They close the gate there but you can get it in the morning.

Danglin, what else is needed to make this event a successful one?

In the short time I have been in this club, the one thing I notice is they never let each other down; and I don't think they would start  now....

They opened the day use area gate right at 7am this last Saturday. I'll be there about that time. I hope the crabs are a crawlin' for these guys!

I think we should try to bring as many pots as we can to make sure we get plenty of action and activity. If anyone has a propane heater, please bring it. I would really like to have a warm, comfortable spot for guys to change in and out of their wetsuits. I think we also need to figure out who is cooking what for lunch. I am going to cook breakfast burritos in the morning. I don't like serving them just hotdogs and chips. We should have some sort of fruit and vegetable options. Since this is a small group, maybe we could bring an assortment of dishes potluck style. I have a bunch of tempura mix that we could use to make some tempura vegetables. Or we could deep fry some chicken wings buffalo style. Or both

No Problem.  I will bring fruit, and makings for hot chocolate and hot apple cider.   Warm drinks will help warm them vets.

Also.  Jack,  tell what we need to help you with lunch.  I can bring sourdough bread, always goes good
with crab, and warm spagetti might be nice.    spagetti with crab meat.  Oh,  I can taste it now.
If you want, I can do that also.

Let me know.
