This has been on my mind all day. I didn't know Aaron but he was a brother of our kayak fishing community and I choose to look at all these awesome photos and think about the good times we might have had as opposed to searching for an answer that will never come to light.

RIP brother. My entire family are thinking healing thoughts for your friends and family in this difficult time.

I really like the idea of a paddle out in his honor.

Here is a photo I left at his house today with some flowers.  This is how I will remember my friend.  I hope that we can honor him in a manner that is appropriate for one of our own.  A paddle out in his memory comes to mind.

Thanks for doing that Etienne. I am up for a paddle out. I remember that day well. Aaron's tail walking WSB then landing through that gnarly surf right in front of the beach hotel to the cheers of the beach goers. What a great guy and a great memory and I will cherish that memory forever. Scott

Rest in Peace Aarron.

Thanks for your Comments on Depression Doug SM's had no place here.

Really sad news. When I took the kayak safety class with him at MBK,  I was so impressed by him of how knowledgeable he was in his busyness. I was going to take one more class this year from him but have not found the time. Rest in peace
bro. We will all miss you.

I've refrained from commenting as multiple facets of this tragedy have played themselves out in my own life, multiple times, with friends and family members passing under similar circumstances. One thing I've come to terms with is that a full explanation will never come to light and even if it did we'd still not be able to comprehend them. I don't imagine this event to be any different and I think the healthy course of action is to accept that these actions are out of character and do as Scott asked.....remember him for who he was and not his reactions in the darkest moments of his life.  I understand this may draw mixed reactions from some but this is not the place to express them.

I did not know Aaron personally but respect the fact that many did and held him in high regard. I will indeed paddle to pay my respects and also offer up any assistance to the family members that were left behind.  Rest peacefully Aaron.

Thanks Art. I think many of us are very conflicted about the events of 7/6. My thoughts and prayers are for all of the victims including Aarons father, mother, sister, brother, wife and the police who found themselves in harms way.

I just wanted to add....

I had planned on visiting Aaron on the Sunday of the PIF weekend. I drove by his shop at Moss Landing in the morning but unfortunately it was still closed. I should have just taken the time and waited  :smt011 The last memory I have of Aaron was when I came by his shop to pick up Fishunters replacement kayak (the Prowler 13 that we all chipped in for to replace the shark-mauled one) . I thanked him for putting a hold on the kayak and for the great deal that we got from it. We gave each other a man hug and I was on my way.
