I just wanted to add....

The last time I saw him Aaron was talking about wanting to put together a book of outdoor stories from himself, his father, and his grandfather. I encouraged him and we talked about  self publishing. He was going to send me a bear story he had written as told by his grandfather. I wish now I had nagged him to send it.
He told me how he was feeling as though the reality of our world as "grown ups" can beat down creativity. I agreed, and I told him how I struggle with that very feeling often. But then I brought up examples of other friends I have tremendous  creative respect for, folks who write, paint, dance, all in the face of financial realities, children, family pressures, what-have-you. I threw out my credo of searching for joy in each day, be it in a real achievment like a surf caught striped bass, or just in noticing a blooming poppy while walking  my dog. Really, what else can you do?

I lost my older brother last fall to depression and despair, and now in the midst of summer I feel I have lost a younger brother as well.
But each day I rise and search for the joy, for me, for them, for my world. The family I have lost along the way I visit each time I touch the sea, and my brother Aaron now joins them.

I will see you on the water my friend.

I just wanted to add....

I had planned on visiting Aaron on the Sunday of the PIF weekend. I drove by his shop at Moss Landing in the morning but unfortunately it was still closed. I should have just taken the time and waited  :smt011 The last memory I have of Aaron was when I came by his shop to pick up Fishunters replacement kayak (the Prowler 13 that we all chipped in for to replace the shark-mauled one) . I thanked him for putting a hold on the kayak and for the great deal that we got from it. We gave each other a man hug and I was on my way.
i too went into the MBK shop that sunday,,,,,just to whats up?      :smt010

Sorry to hear this.  Dang.
Seemed like a cool dude.
Kayak fisherman snapping?  One in a hundred million.
I am sending you out as sheep among wolves.
Be as wary as serpents and gentle as doves.

Psalm 23
The LORD is my shepherd,
I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
He restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.
Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.
The ocean moans over dead mens bones

I agree, we should have a moment of silence for our fallen brother while OTW @ Albion, and again during the ceremonies.

In Loving Memory of Mooch, Eelmaster, Shicken, and Cabeza De Martillo

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...
