Hmmm, here are some ideas for kid activities:
1. Scavenger Hunt - around the campground, that could be interesting
2. Relay race on the runway - hey planes never land there, might as well use it
3. Surf fishing contest - AOTD/MBF format of course
4. Iron Chef contest - and the secret ingredient is.... ROCKFISH!!!!
5. Fish/bird identification class - at the fish cleaning station
6. Abalone pounding contest - then maybe they won't beat on each other
7. Reel cleaning class - you never know who the next Alan Tani will be
8. Ultimate frisbee - everyone against Molly (good luck)
9. Beer cap campground sweep - green is good

Just kidding of course. :smt005

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!!!
Please read the GS5 Official Rules doc then print the attached Waiver and Order Form and send it in with a check for $25 for each tournament registration.  ALL shirt and hoodie orders are pre-order ONLY, so please indicate additional shirts/hoodies you want and adjust your payment accordingly.  A black t-shirt with red ink is included with your registration.  Long sleeve white shirts with black and red ink are available for $20 - you can request another color shirt, but there are no guarantees.  The hoodies will be gray with black and red ink and are $40.  Additional regular t-shirts with red ink only will be $15/each.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

I have decided to commit a substantial amount of the registration monies as well as net proceeds from shirt and hoodie sales to Joel Lotilla, AKA:  Mooch.   :smt001  We all hope he can make it up for the weekend to be Guest of Honor in person, but we'll party in his honor either way, and the announcement of monies raised for him will be a big part of the final proceedings Saturday evening.

If you know people who want to join in then please direct them here.

All info is either on the Official Rules or the Waiver and Order Form.  I'll make the scorecards available on this thread later (maybe around page 50...   :smt002), and they'll be available at the tournament as well of course.

Yes, but only from you.  (deja vu!   :smt003)

You'll look good in a hoodie, but only with a nice long sleever underneath!   :smt005

Remember, everyone, excess proceeds from shirt and hoodie sales go to Mooch.   :smt001

The money over and above what I pay to get the shirts and hoodies made will go to Mooch.  I'll pay around $24 after tax for the printed hoodie, so $16 of your $40 hoodie purchase goes directly to Mooch.  For the long sleeve shirts it's around $12 paid for the printed product, so $8 goes to Mooch.  I keep good records and am good at math - it'll be clear how much will go right to Mooch from shirts and hoodies well before the tournament.  Then, after all registrations are in and all expenses are paid, I'll know how much more I have to work with for both raffle money and Mooch money.  I have a feeling raffle money may turn to Mooch money either way, and that'll be fine.  Much of this hinges on the grand prize yak we're supposed to get from OK...  Cajun, anything?...

I had a good idea for a kids and parents activity for Sunday morning.  My wife has been setting aside buckets of old shells of all kinds, and she wants them off the property!  It's neat stuff the kids and I have picked up and brought home over the years - plenty of abalone, urchins, scallops...etc.  I'm aiming to 'seed' the beach below The Tides late in the evening after the potluck (drunken shell chucking?...) - the night's high tide will toss them across the beach and redistribute them naturally, and Sunday morning's low tide will expose a beachcombing paradise of sorts!  I won't junk up the beach - just enough to provide an enhanced 'comb.  What do you think?  Anyone up for early morning smiling-kid-watching?   :smt003

Awesome Idea!  My 7 yo daughter will love it, she'll spend the rest of the day glueing them as a border on to the Gyotaku she want EWB to show her how to make....I'll bring her barbie push button zebco for some of Montana's and Jack's ideas.

EWB it sounds like you have plenty of ink, what paper should I buy where?

Looking forward to an Ab dive on Sunday..just took the FII level 1 in Monterey this weekend and hit the class max of 66' with time to spare.   Awesome class!

Awesome! Whatever color you choose I'll take it.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll just drag you down to their level, and beat you with experience.
