adam, if you want a really minimal bass, there are a few lakes out there with "slot limits" from 12"-15" meaning that technically even a 4" bass would be legal to keep (not that anyone would actually do that) - so that fish would technically count towards AOTY!

the two I know off the top of my head are Lake McClure and Lake Oroville.  BTW Both lakes also have small salmon and trout in them too.  Oroville right now has Cohos in the 10-12" range and McClure will have kokanee later this summer in the 12" range.

edit - Millerton Lake in Fresno also has a slot limit

You can always sign up and/or sign in to the AOTY site and upload your catches.  They will be there under "recent catches" and "my fish".    When Bill receives your payment and has a chance to validate your payment on your AOTY account the fish will show up on the leaderboard.

So.. please upload those new fish.  Just be careful with your species categories, things have changed!!!   --Twenty species to fish for (overall score based on your 10 best).
--Steelhead and lake trout are no longer in the trout category, rather they are their own NEW !! categories.
--NEW !! White seabass, spotted bass, kokanee, catfish, panfish, greenling, surf perch, and flounder categories also added.

Look for a post detailing the new format soon!

The AOTY commitee and I are still working on tweaking the final rules.

A word of advice, please give some indication of where you where fishing as it helps to verify species identifications.

Also, some of the species are hard to identify (e.g. spotted bass) so you're pictures have to be good enough to show me the distinguishing characters.

For spotted bass, this is the coloration of the body, the small mouth, and the fact that first and second dorsal fins are connected.

Thank you for all the hardwork guys!  I love the new format and believe it will encourage more people to join the AOTY and post their catches  :smt007
