In an attempt to get more Shark Shields OTW (and in the absence of local dealers here in California), I got the OK to make a half dozen Shark Shields available as "pro-staffer" units at a considerable discount.  These units are only being offered to California residents through this site and mine.

U.S./ Aussie dollar fluctuations have driven the retail price of Shark Shield to $670.00.

Please contact me for the special price.  WHEN I RUN OUT of discount units, I'll extend the best discount possible to CKF &  NCKA readers through December 20th??? to guarantee delivery by the 25th.  After that, the best "discount" will represent about 5% off MSRP, typical of electronics.

For those new to Shark Shield, it isn't a fear of sharks thing. For me, it's overall peace-of-mind...to bloody up the water, fish sharky areas, hang my feet, dive, night fish and take a swim with total confidence in this shark deterrent technology.  Shark Shield is the first successful shark deterrent in nearly a century of trying and it eliminates the big shark factor in kayak fishing.
Feel free to contact me anytime.

Do you have any photos?  I take it these are only for the OK?

Thanks Guys,
Many Norcalers contacted me for pricing.  The quote was accurate but I underestimated the savings by $70, basing it on the old retail price.  Shark Shield is now $760.00.

Why are they discounted?-In the absence of local dealers, I got these units on a promotional program to get some Shark Shields in the field through key placements.  With abalone season, in white shark country and being one of the best communities nationwide, NCKA was an easy choice to offer a pro-staff deal.

Damdam-The WSB came off Trancas Point in Malibu in 2000.  No shark shield back then but the sharks did show up a few weeks into that epic WSB bite.  No bumps but a lot of looks.  Peace-of-mind, not fear of sharks, is the big benefit to having SS onboard.

Caddis-Shark Shield only works in saltwater, not brackish.  Pix are at Sharkshield.com.

hahaha... u see the test were a big white came right thru the shark shield and attacked the bait? they also had lesser species come thru the shield. I saw vids on the internet a guy catching reef sharks while his "shield" was on. putting your faith in a Little buzzing box.. that's funny

That's more opinion than fact and that wasn't an authorized test of the product you referred to. If you smashed a new TV (in your backyard) and said it "failed" when you plugged it in...you'd have about as dependable a study.  Researching the knowledge base beyond one story, you'll find there are a handful of reports of Shark Shield "failures" over the years, all disproven, floating around the internet and still reported as accurate, like here.

As far as "lesser sharks".... it won't interupt your dogfishing day.  Nor was it designed to.  Shark Shield is proven technology used by nearly 20,000 people, mostly in the Southern Hemisphere.  Millions of dollars have gone into making the personal product (Freedom 7).  With all due respect, claiming the Shark Shield technology doesn't work is like discounting radio waves because they can't be seen.

Sensitive to the influence of Forum contributors passing on bad information to serious anglers, this hits a little closer to home for why I fear the "consequences of a world in which the lines between fact and opinion, informed expertise and amaturist speculation are willfully blurred."  The overwhelming quality of the contributions is what sets a few Forums, like NCKA, apart from the others.

Thanks For Your Time and Whack `em

Would you say you put "faith" in a little strap and whoopie cushion?  Yet every day we use airbags and seatbelts...

I just want to know if I'll get a refund if I get attacked while wearing a SS? Because my wife wants to get one for me, but I first want to know if there is legal recourse should the product fail to work as advertised. I mean, I assume there is no 'warranty' against shark attacks. I really don't know..? But I DO like fancy gadgets, especially if it could save my life, and this seems like a pretty cool piece of technology. Thanks for offering a discount to the membership. Hopefully someone takes advantage of this deal.

Got your message.  Where's the beef?  Post the link to the study that shows a statistical significant difference between wearers and non-wearers.  I'm not being cantankerous, but if you say it's proven - well where's the peer reviewed study?  I'm interested - even at the full price- but I need to know more.

According to this article, a great white shark actually bit into the shark shield rather than turning away from it during a test of the device. The test was conducted after a diver was killed while wearing a Shark Shield.

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/nation/great-white-ate-anti-shark-device/story-e6frg6p6-1111115683913

While this might not have been an "authorized" test, it is a test done by an independent third party. Why does Shark Shield not post an authorized test procedure so their product's functionality can be properly evaluated by an independent third party?

How often does a surfer or kayaker actually encounter a great white shark, nonetheless get attacked by one? Are the odds of getting attacked while wearing a Shark Shield (failure rate) significantly less than while not wearing one so as to justify its purchase?

According to http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/fish/sharks/statistics/USAbeachattacks.htm, the odds of getting attacked by sharks off US beaches are less than one in a million. There has been at least one case of shark fatality while wearing Shark Shield. How many more are there? Has Shark Shield sold more than a million units to lower their odds of failure to less than one in a million? Unfortunately Shark Shield has not released such statistics.

How about giving someone a false sense of security? I can sell you a cloak of invincibility made from seal blubber for $299.95, impervious to shark attacks, rabid dogs, bullets... It is much cheaper than the $700 Shark Shield. Any takers?

I forgot to mention there is no warranty, and no refund if the invincibility cloak fails.
