Joel,

My distant cousin runs a charter boat out of Juneau.  Maybe you can finally get him in a kayak.

Juneau isn't even close to Ketchikan.

Speaking of Juneau ... Joel, here's the competition up there ... http://www.beyondak.com/kayakfishing.html

Mooch you wanted advice on Alaska??

'Alaska, where you never really lose your girlfriend, you just lose your turn.'

That's going on the back of next year's t-shirts.

Throw in some rain gear and rubber boots and you're good to go. Look forward to having you. That'll make FIVE kayak anglers on the island!!

Howard

I am aware Juneau is a couple hundred miles from Ketchikan....  but it's all relative.  Looks like the closest town on Google maps!

I know if I was moving there I'd take all the contacts I could get....

Wow! I just saw this thread today!
While I'm happy for you....I have to admit that I'm kinda bummed that you won't be around.

Norcal just won't be the same with out the 'Mooch'. We need to have a send off party.

-Brian G
criteria to make sure joel knows what he's getting into:

1. a big lake with bears near it and possibly salmon
2. snowing/blizzard conditions
3. ice on the roads, all women are bundled up
4. mooses/meese
5. friendly locals all armed with shotguns

anything else i'm missing?

nope, you got it covered.. try the queen charlottes in BC or come north to washington to the okanogon lakes area and you easily have all bases covered.

just remember to start paddling faster if you start hearing banjos
