FWIW-Memorial Day Weekend was considered the kickoff to the tourist season, just like here. I started work a few weeks prior to prep stuff & get our kayaks all in a row for the summer. I loved that time when most work was repairing boats & unpacking all the new rental gear, with 3 feet of snow on the ground & sunny, windless days.

Also-if you drive,  the quickest I made it up there from here was 8 days, traveling about 400 miles each day in 8hours or so. It's probably not as slow now, as that was 10 yrs ago. ('course you'll have to ferry to Ketchikan, but that's pretty fun too)

You are gonna have a fun time Moochman.

Believe it or not but I'm no stranger to cold. Spent some time at Colorado Springs and experienced some serious cold conditions. It was the negative wind chill factor that killed me.....but that was before I was an EX-REI clothing specialist :smt002 I know more about proper layering now :smt045 I've learned that people only get cold if they don't dress to conditions :smt001 :

Cool Joel good for you I'll be up this Summer.
