Inside joke but if I post on a thread at the least the number of views will go up. 17 pages here we come!

Regarding pages on the thread, I'm now itching to pull a power-trip and delete the thread!   :smt005  (JK, of course)

Doh!  SkyGreen...  I didn't get it because back in those days I hadn't even discovered the "Show unread posts since last visit" button, so I didn't even follow that controversy.  I'm WAY more addicted now.   :smt003

Anyway, I don't know what kind of talk went down about a waiver or anything, but it does cross my mind that I wouldn't want to be responsible for any unfortunate occurrences...  I'm kinda new to the Mega-Hookup.  Any advice for a guy in my position?  :smt001

Oh, and regarding a waiver about being in a movie, I wasn't totally kidding.  I want all to know this and be confident of it:  I won't put anyone in a movie without their blessing, and it is absolutely the case that I edit for flattery - that is to say, I want everyone in my movies to look good and feel good about being in there.  (except when I shot Hawk along the bank of the Eel taking a leak!   :smt005  but he liked it.   :smt001)

Construing the above post outside the context of this board could lead to Mad Libs type innuendo.  :smt044

"Mega-hookups... position... cameras... waivers...unfortunate occurrences ... being in a movie ...."

alright back to fishing...

Since folks are making arrangements for travel and accomodation, we should probably be clear on what days we plan to fish etc?

I say this because opening day is actually the Friday (May 15th). M'Lady and I plan to launch at first light on that Friday as well as fishing the Saturday before returing south on the Sunday.

Good point, Phil.  These are my thoughts:  Friday is show-up day.  Those of us who are lucky enough to get there and fish the opener will be 'scouting' for the rest of the group and saving a little meat to indulge others in the fresh fruits of the Cove.  Saturday would be "Tournee Day" - I don't have a format yet, but I do want to have a tournee, and that is the natural day for it as Friday and Sunday will be travel days for most.  Friday evening would be like a mixer (rehearsal dinner   :smt005) and Saturday evening would be the grand shin-dig with tournee results, big ol' potluck, too many beers, and lots of love.  Sunday will hopefully be a mellow day of last chance fishing, hanging out together, some quickee tours of nearby cool spots...etc. before most if not all folks have to hit the road.  If others have any kind of ideas for the framework for the madness by all means post it up - this thing is extremely dynamic at this point.   :smt001

For the record, GS2 was the best hookup that never happened. It is all about the dreams when the weather is bad and the fishing is slow. Like Pat, if Karen is up to it, I am going this time even if there are 20 ft swells. Between shore fishing and trout or steelhead or just walking the dog I will have a great time. :-)  BTW check out the aerial photos of the area, you may be able to bag a ling from shore. With 3 months to go, we will hit 20 pages on this thread, IMO.

In my experience, catching a lingcod from shore is not at all easy, but I did once catch 4 lings one day at Abalone Point (north end of the airstrip) - they were biting that day, because I've never had that kind of luck.  The potential IS there.   :smt001

Sorry for the threadjack, but my buddy and I caught 34 lings over a three day period a few years ago. Only 8 total hours of fishing. 2 hours Thursday after work, 2 hours Friday after work, and 4 hours on Saturday morning. 8 keepers and 26 shorts. All released. All from the same spot in Bodega Bay. All on artificials.

To bring this back on subject I am going to try and attend this event. Never fished that far North before. I'm starting a new job in April, so it all depends on how my new work schedule is looking. But I'm crossing my fingers!

Some campgrounds have a nice, private little area for each "spot"...  Shelter Cove campground is more, uh, functional...  in that each space has a pretty well defined "slot".  20'x50' or so I'd say.  With how the season has changed, and considering no salmon season, I can't imagine it would be "crowded" for opening weekend of rockfish and lingcod season.  When I met up with Adam, Allen and Patrick there last August they had two spots and were able to comfortably spread out into small parts of adjacent sites because there weren't too many people around.  Anyway, I'll try to post some more campground shots if I find them.  This is my nephew in August, '05 - the height of salmon, rockfish, abalone and albacore season at the time because August is typically very flat...  Ah, the old days...   :smt007 :smt010
