Count me in. Last time we stayed at the campground it was ~ $50 for a trailer, less for the tent of course. The campground is pretty close to the launch (long rollez, short pickup drive) Looking forward to putting faces to NCKA contributers.

Wow!  This trip's bringing people out of the lurker-closet!   :smt002

Welcome, Harputmanuki, and I'm sorry for using that opportunity to rip you a little.   :smt003

Alain - that's a good question, and I'm thinking I'll book my room soon to avoid not getting the spot I want.  I'll also make a point of contacting the campground to see if I can work any kind of discount for the volume and shoppers/eaters, as they own the store/restaurant right there too.  They had a pretty serious fire that I helped cleanup back in December, and I hope the place is up and running again by May - I'm pretty sure it won't be an issue, and I'll ask the owner about that too.  What's cool is that all the equipment (coolers, fryers, food prep areas..etc.) will be brand new.  The restaurant (it's a deli really) has always had an excellent reputation for their fish and chips, and I don't see that changing - we may even see the dawn of a new and better era.  I was impressed with the owner when I worked for him - worldly fisherman raised locally who appreciates hard work.

Another issue for possible polling:  who's bringing their wife/kids?  My kids (9 and 5.5) are totally into it, and I'm thinking to enlist one of their teenage cousins to earn some babysitting bucks.  That means mama would only be about 95% as mad as if she was watching them herself!  I'll take the %5.   :smt004

I'd love to know who plans to bring family - kids especially.

I'll be camping. I usually bring the family but not on this one.

If the weather looks reasonable, it will be the wife and I to stay in the campground.

Does the campground have shower facilities?

Who else is going to bring instruments for campground jam sessions?

ABking, you rock for setting this thing up and answering my dumb ass questions!

My boys are a bit young (a 2-year old & a newborn) for this trip, so I'll be leaving the family at home.  Most likely camping, but a hot shower and warm bed sure would be nice after a day on the water...we'll see.

The musician gene totally skipped me, so my evenings by the campfire will take the form of enjoying a few frosty beverages.

The more frosty beverages you drink, the better we sound :smt002

My girlfriend will probably want to come along, and we'll be camping, and I'll bring my mandolin.

Julie at The Tides got turned on to our little shin-dig by Don and she's been reading through NCKA and this post - Hi, Julie!  :smt006  The Tides may book up quick, so check it out if you're leaning that way, and tell Julie you're with NCKA.   :smt001

Reserved a "dog room" at the Inn of the Lost Coast. Won't know till the week of if it is a go but a 50/50 chance. If I do make it, I can bring an extra yak (P15), paddle, PFD, FF/GPS and VHF if someone needs to borrow.

For the first timers or newbies, although this is not a challenging surf launch, ocean swells can be unforgiving so a paddling class and self-rescue practice is highly recommended before heading out on big blue.  :smt006

This is an excellent point.  Sounds like we'll have a mess of people, and everyone will be very helpful, but please do not show up without having made an effort to get yourself a little experience on open water.  If we get lucky and the ocean is FAC that's one thing, but if it's bumpy and windy (more likely than not) it will be difficult for some to judge what to do, as those with much experience will batton down the hatches and go fishing.

For the record, I started the post and I welcome all to join in the fun, but I'm not advising anyone on how, when, where or why to fish, kayak, dive, swim, drink beer or other.  All of those choices are the complete responsibility of the owner of the brain that makes them.
