Hey Tad, I will hook you up with a fish whacker.  I have a wood lathe, I can burn one out for you from some live oak or other wood.  I want to make myself one anyways, and any excuse to make sawdust is a good one.

I have some drops from Englund Marine that are supposed to stop sea sickness.  You put a drop or two behind your ear.  I got them for the wife and daughter for the drive over SR-36.  She seemed to think it worked.  I smells like a peppermint oil.  I have heard chewing ginger also works.  I like the ginger altoids for an upset stomach.  I have been lucky to never been seasick, but there is always a first time...... I will likely bring some of those drops, pills and ginger just in case.

I have a bag of lures for you here and my worm stuff just came today!  Back to plastic casting.  I made up a new mold for a bulkier full body swimbait.  I think it will look good.

I keep a little dry bag in the hatch with a poly shirt, fleece and beanie.  Just in case it gets cold, or I need dry clothes.  I have a light wind breaker/rain jacket to use as a splash jacket.  It is a nylon jacket from Walmart.  It folds up small to stow in the drybag, so I always have it.

I can't wait!  I dream of Lings, and Halibut too.  Huge Rock Cods and a nice cold Brew......

Matt

Tad, your list looks good. But I'd swap the beanie for a hat---either baseball or wide-brim style. And sunblock. Because even on overcast foggy days, your exposure to sun is greatly intensified on a kayak.

Amen to that Pat!  Even with a hat and long sleeves and such, my face still got pretty burnt perching in HMB on foggy/overcast days.  Didn't feel like it was burning me, but man my whole face started peeling two days later...

OK! My first post is to say I want to come fish with the pros. I've been reading the forums, watching Abkings videos, and getting advise from Hawk at Humboats.

 1)  I have all my gear set and ready but need to know if I need to get a campsite or are people grouping up and sharing sites?

 2)  Anyone want to carpool from Eureka?

 3) I have a tarpon 160 I am using but also have a hobie revolution and trident 13 if anyone wants to try them out.

 4) Haven't done any camping since I got out the Marine Corp. What should I bring? I have tent, sleeping bag, basics. Do I need to bring pots and such or are we group cooking at the campsite?

Sorry, but I have fished mostly Trinidad and just day trips. The wife thinks this may create a monster.

Thanks in advance for any assistance,

                Greg

Welcome spedrcr/Greg!  We don't really have anything organized for the camping other than the fact that the owner down there said he'd block a bunch of sites for us and give us two sites in the middle of the block with extra picnic tables for our party/gathering activities.  If you talk it up enough on here and maybe go through the old posts you may find someone who'll split a site with you.  Looking forward to meeting you down there.   :smt001

Is there bait avaliable at the cove?  I want to get a little squid to flavor my lures  :smt001

I sure hope we can get some diving in, I am getting low on Abalone.  My mouth waters just thinking of fresh abalone poppers right off the stove.  A little jack cheese, a mild chile layed across the tendorized slab of Ab, rolled in egg and breaded.  Fried golden brown in a little olive oil......ohhhhhhhh, heaven.

I might also have to give Uni a try.  I would need a lesson in preping the urchins though.

Buy squid where you live and freeze it. Take it in an ice chest. That's what I do. Rockfish don't care if it's dead.
